Wow! Wouldn't want to meet that guy in a dark alley. Surprised there aren't horns.
"These seven Wall Street firms are (in order of money given): Goldman Sachs, UBS AG, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse. There is also a large hedge fund, Citadel Investment Group, which is a major source of fee income to Wall Street. There are five large corporate law firms that are also registered lobbyists; and one is a corporate law firm that is no longer a registered lobbyist but does legal work for Wall Street. The cumula*tive total of these 14 contributors through February 1, 2008, was $2,872,128, and we’re still in the primary season."
According to what I've heard (too lazy to look it up) Obama has recieved 100 million(guessing sort of) in donations. I wouldn't call that being in the pocket of lobbyists. I believe that is McCain's job. Obama's average donation is around $100 dollars and he's winning. What more do you want from a candidate. The truth? Kucinich tried that and he lost. Nader isn't a viable candidate but he belongs somewhere in government. Hillary is McCain lite and McCain is Bush. I guess I don't see what the problem is.I want to point out that people who seem to have no power, whether working people, people of color, or women -- once they organize and protest and create movements -- have a voice no government can suppress. ummmm yeah, i want the truth, why don't you?? you're ok w/ being lied to? it's not about 'winning' it's about standing up for what's right. sorry, i'm putting my foot down and i'm not just gonna roll over and give in to a faux opposition party
nader isn't viable b/c ppl are too chickenshit to vote for him, which i'm not.
he has lied, he lied about a pharmaceutical lobbyist being the chair of his election campaign in new hampshire.
he went from 'lobbyists won't have a job in my white house!!!' to 'lobbyists won't dominate my whitehouse!!'
 among other things
but if you're ok w/ that, then by all means...

No I don't like being lied to. But I understand that we have one of three choices at this moment. This person is going to be making choices for our country for at least the next 4 years including Supreme Court Judges. I don't want that person to be Bush 2. For me it is that simple. Nader can't win. Our country is too entrenched in a 2 party system. So its Obama or McCain.
Serious question. Who would you choose?I want to point out that people who seem to have no power, whether working people, people of color, or women -- once they organize and protest and create movements -- have a voice no government can suppress. Howard Zinn0

 i choose nader/gonzalez.
and if not them i would write in kucinich, b/c the only way i can possibly waste my vote is to throw it away on someone who i know is lying to my face. i'm not gonna vote against somebody, as you are w/ mccain, i'm voting FOR somebody
you are limiting yourself, not our country. as long as you keep in line NOTHING will change. you have more than those 3 choices. we will never have progress or see any substantial form of change as long as we just shrug and give in and say 'i guess that's the best we can do....' the only way to affect change is to demand it and stand behind it, you can't do it half assed.

change we can believe in...until after election day, then we can all go back to bitching about the 2 party's being worthless and ineffectual

Good post, totally agree with you.
Obama continues to disassociate himself with all of these controversies claiming that they don't represent who he really is or what he believes in. The problem is that he hasn't shown us who he ACTUALLY is or what he believes in. How can he expect us to not judge him by his associates when he has given us nothing else to judge him by? Who the fuck is this guy? He has hardly any experience, has been involved in numerous (I will admit, somewhat overblown) controversies, associates himself with some very "interesting" people, and basically claims to believe (although he would highly resent this statement) the same stuff as Hilary, who, in my opinion, has MUCH more experience and personal conviction than him. How he got so popular is mind boggling...I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

The funny thing is that Oprah is the media version of Obama...so I so get their kinship. They both have great potential!! For enlightenment! Both, however, are held back by the pandering to the "masses". McCain is Bush? Then how come I don't know one Republican who wants to vote for him? Most I know would rather elect Bush to a third term than McCain.
