Obama quick to condemn Imus/ not Wright

After Imus's attacks on the Rutgers girls basketball team, Obama said Imus should be fired. (Which I agree) But when his pastor makes attacks blaming rich white men such as Hillary/Guilliani Europeans, etc. Obama says he doesnt agree with the words but doesnt say he should have to step down as pastor. Is that fair?

It's a fair point to bring up but I doubt you'll get many real replies and instead be insulted for your thread starting history. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Perhaps it is because the pastor can only be released by his following, not on a recommendation from Obama. Imus worked for a private major corporation with sponsors meaning he could be fired. It also may have to do with the pastor not using racial slurs such as "nappy headed hos" or "white bread motherfuckers". What he said may in fact be racist but it is perceived racism rather than namecalling.
As for the attacks blaming "rich white MEN like Hillary" .... well, I dont know where to go with that one.0 -

For the sake of argument:
I'd be more upset about being referred to as taking down the black community through means of genocide than I would be over being called a nappy headed ho.
Obama could have recommend the pastor step down just the same as he did with Imus....though he doesn't have the final say in either. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

good point book. Ya, I'm the kinda love/hate person on this web site. You either love me or hate me. One day I may meet some of you at a PJ concert. I'll be up close hopefully. I can use my ten club # but that never gets you close so I'll be looking for brokers next time around unless ten club fixes seniority problem, but thats a whole nother topic. I'm not that bad a person at all, you would like me, I think..;)0

funny how you continually remind me of a certain user...
But it's oh so hard to tell which one...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

this is what I was talking about. All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.0 -
I found a source...here you go:

you're welcome..
anyhoo...Obama said this:Obama wrote:"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude."
Obama said he appeared once on Imus' show two years ago, and "I have no intention of returning."
well, the person who called Billary a "monster" was removed...I would be willing to bet if Rev. Wright had be on is staff, he would have let him go too...0 -
I think rev. Wright is retired as far as I know and Imus is back on the air.
it's mainly political in nature from all aspects....
Double standards exist because of social constructs.
It was a lame nonsensical comment from Imus honestly... why even bring up womens basketball .00001 pecent of the population even notice it? He was rightly diciplined for stupidity and now he's making money again. If you're in the media your job is to make money for your advertisers, when you put them in a bad position you get fired... it's very simple.
As for Wright I think he's been just as chastised frankly there are plenty of people who called out his inflammatory remarks but theres no post to fire him from and given that it's a congregation that believes him and it's not a pay gig, what are you gonna do picket a church on the South Side of Chicago?
No thanks. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0
