So for the first time in a very long time I'm not excited about a new album and tour...after TX and the south have been passed up again, its just left me feeling blah about it all...

I'm normally not one to stir stuff up, but that just makes NO sense. So they pass you up, and . . . now you do not want to hear their music? Crap, I'm in California (not seeing the band either right now) and I'm still excited (bootlegs, etc.). It's definitely a free board and freedom of speech is important, but how many of these topics are really needed?

Its not that I don't want to hear their music and I'm sure I'll love it when it comes out BUT I'm just saying that it is the first time in 10+ years that I really haven't been pumped about it. I think alot of the lack of excitement comes from no shows in our state in many many years and I'm tired of being frustrated about it, and now I'm starting to not care.

  • Well I'm not excited about a new album or tour because they hardly ever tour in England... and they've never been to the rubbish theatre in my rubbish town... it only plays pantomimes and Freddie Star. So fuck you Pearl Jam! ;)

I always take these posts with the spirit intended. Of course you are disappointed that they might not be touring your area, makes sense. But you have to keep in mind that for a lot of fans out there, they never play our area..so we travel to see them. Or we stay home, read the fanviews and listen to the boots. Usually the closest they get to me is a 10 hour drive. Anyway, to each his own, certainly welcome to feel this way.

They have skipped Kansas City also. No worries, I just accept that they most likely won't come my way so I save up my cash so I can travel to see them.

There are people around the world who never get to see them. At least here in North America we have options. I have had to take vacation days or weeks and make travel plans for 90% of the shows I went to. If you really want to, the choice is yours. I'm just glad that they ARE touring.

I feel ya man. I'm sorry you got the "no pj blues" I felt this way a couple of years ago when it became evident they were not coming to atlanta and i could not afford to travel to see them. i had that blah feeling too. I kind of lost a little touch with them.

It sucks, but they will get back to TX at some point.

For me, it's about the music FIRST... that's why Pearl Jam is a band... why they formed... to make music. So, seeing them live is just an added bonus. Yes, it is kind of sad they aren't hitting up TX... but that certainly doesn't kill their music for me or any of the excitement.

I just ordered the first boot of the season because "Who You Are" is on there... and I wasn't at the show... but it feels like it with all the YouTube videos, poster picture posting (tongue twister)... and sweet stories people have been sharing.

I hate to break it to you, but nobody from outside of Texas really wants to visit Texas. San Antonio is cool and I'm sure Austin is fun, but there's not much else to get excited about.

Like someone else said, get in your car and go see them. But, that might take too much effort on your part. It's much easier to whine like a 5 year old on a message board.

Alright- you are entitled to your feelings of course. But personally, I relish those times when PJ isn't as "shiny" to everyone, touring and being super active. I think it weeds out people who are not as loyal to them. I fear PJ getting too big for their britches (ala the Dead, Phish, etc.) and fading away. Im actually excited to know that some fans move away during the slow times.

i can understand that. not everyone on this board is blessed with the ability to take a month off and follow the band. when i was in college it was alot easier, but life changes and your priorities shift. pearl jam still has an important part of my life and has had to adapt to that shift. i started a second job teaching online so i could do a bit more travelling and was able to fly to DC and drive to Chicago to see shows this summer. i had a blast doing it and felt quite satisified with it all.

    what revived this thread?
not that i knew it existed, but before i looked at the date the first thing that came to mind was, your not excited for a tour that has not been announced yet?

in 06 they only played toronto... some *cities* have all the luck... though i'd say vancouver is probably second for concerts for bands who touch down in canada and don't do a reasonably substantial tour...
anyways, we went to the gorge in 06.

you find ways to make things work and if not well, c'est la vie.

pearl jam is more fun when you can travel, i'd suggest it, if you can!! :)
live pearl jam is best pearl jam
  • the last PJ show i saw in my city was in 2003.
they played here in 06, but i was away...
that hasn't stopped me seeing them 11 times since 03 in both Europe and the US. and doin the evolution said, it is much more fun when you travel.
I am excited for the next tour so i can do it all again
