Most heartfelt version of black?

I know this is kind of a ridiculous thread, as black has been played 420 times over the years! But I guess you must have a favorite :)

I think my favorite is the one from April 3rd, 1994 - Atlanta. I just love how the first chorus is entirely quiet, and the second one starts of like that and then kicks off into mike's solos. And then of course there's that beautiful tag I've never heard at any other version. It's just pure magic, really heartfelt...

So, gimme some ideas, so I can go download :D

Istanbul? Very cool...im in Istanbul as well teaching English...what are you doing here?

The ATL choice for Black is a good one....a more recent one that is definitely worth noting is the Pittsburgh 06' version...incredibly heartfelt tag.

  • Well, since I'm kind of new to PJ, I don't know that many versions for Black, but my most favorite one is "Black" is from MTV unplugged, I thought it was just soo heartfelt and it felt painful, like it pained me to watch Eddie pour is heart out on the mic like that, seemed like such a personal song....I love that verison, it's raw and real....and that's the most verison that stands out for me, also that song and performance was the one that got me into PJ.....:)

I think you've got to look at the 03 versions, especially early in the tour where Boom's piano comes out very clear. Those just sound gorgeous, I'm surprised they moved away from it.

In the last Milan concert at the end where there is the signature "do do do do do do do" normally played by Mike- the band was silent and the whole crowd continued singing that while eddie clapped in the pause to keep time. Ed cried at the end! (NB i wasnt there but my best mate was but i have heard the bootleg which he bought.)
