    Stiff upper lip.

We fought hard, we were eloquent and thoughtful, we did our best to get the truth out there, regardless of the blatent hate from some folks here.

Regardless of the outcome, it's up to us.
  • A little defeatist, no? Polls are polls, and they have been wrong before.

And there is unfortunately blatant hate on both sides.

there was a poll once in Poland about whether they should abandon claim to the North and South Pole... its commonly referred to as the Poll of Poles... its a misleading title i have to say... i still dont know who owns the poles?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

No, I don't think I'm being defeatist. The truth is McCain pretty much had no shot, given the economic climate... outside of something shocking occuring. That didn't happen.

Obama did well handling himself throughout the campaign. I just hope people sincerely recognize... after this.... McCain is not GWB at all. If I was Obama, I would have linked him to GWB too.... but the truth is, they are different people. Also, Palin was thrown into a difficult situation. She's not an idiot, as she was made out to be. She went in overcoached. Didn't do well in two interviews. Afterwards, she's handled herself very well IMHO.

Bottom line... Obama IS going to win. The pendulum always swings back. That's politics. He deserves credit for what he's accomplished. That said, I don't think he's the right man for the job.... but, at this point, I'm willing to let that go because the time for that has passed.

So, if you supported him.... Congrats.
  • I would just like to take this Opportunity to congratulate.............................................................................................................................................................................................. Ross Perot for a well fought victory, the Obama camp really thought they'd nailed this one!!

haha ... she didn't do well in 3 of 3 interviews ... i honestly think you are using the wrong head in your assessment of her ... :p

but yeah - the time for debating candidates worthiness is over ... take solace in knowing that while you hold obama under the gun the next 4 years - you will have more support on this board ... :)

I think that most people realize that McCain is not GWB. Unfortunately for him the economy was the main focus in the past two months, and that is the one area that he seems to have (somewhat recently) aligned himself so much with Bush on.

The republican party and it's base was such an asset to Bush getting elected, but it really has been a drag on McCain. He is one republican who had tremendous moderate support from both sides, but he had to run too far right out of his comfort zone to court the base. Hispanics are the perfect example of why he seems to have failed. He had to stay so far away from his immigration platform that he basically alienated the hispanic vote to keep the right on his side.

I just wish that we could have seen the real McCain run, and not the boxed in republican candidate McCain.

I think there's still a chance that McCain wins, but it's a small one. I'm going to try and not worry too much about the bad things I believe will happen with a Democratic controlled government.

Probably not as bad as they were with 6 years of a Republican controlled government.

This is my belief too. Obama fans and the MSM have declared days ago that Obama WILL win, but in the event that McCain is called the winner (like I think he will), so many people are going to be so super fucked, that I already feel sorry for them.

This mainstream media crap is so out of control it's a joke... Fox News has been saying the same thing about the same polls as every other network, but I don't hear anyone complaining about them being biased about the outcome.

I am still thoroughly convinced McCain will win. Given the climate and the pendulum, you are correct that this was not tailor made for him, but he's still running against a Democrat.

Agree that Obama did well. It was weird seeing the GOP run a worse, more desperate presidential campaign. Not very often will you see that. I also agree that McCain is not W. It's somewhat unfair-kind of like what Clinton's fun and games did to Gore. While I respect the McCain of a decade ago more than now...he did do some W sucking up and after the despicable treatment he received from Rove et al in 2000. I am not excited about a McCain Presidency, but either guy is an improvement by default.

I very much agree with you that Pain was was thrown into a difficult situation. But that's about it. If she was overcoached, it was because they knew her shortcomings. "I can see Russia from Alaska". "I don't really know what the Vice President does." I think she is woeffully unprepared and I hope (in general but for these reasons too) for McCain's health to hold up. Her appeal is a) the God/Gays/Guns vote and b) her "folksy", "dumb but not too dumb" appeal. Bush is unpopular, but he's still the "type" of person people want there--"not too 'elitist.'" Win or lose today, she should roll in 2012.

I don't think the Democratic party is even viable for this office any more. There are too many automatic states for the GOP. This is the era of cable news and talk radio. While congress remains cyclical due to state/district differences, this office does not. This year EVERY star (except the race/name of the Dem candidate) aligned. A younger, hipper, better looking candidate. A horrible 8 years of GOP administration. A bad economy. An unqualified VP candidate to a very old candidate. More money for the Dem (very unusual) and it's still a nailbiter.

    Congrats to you.

Is it the voting machines? Is it keeping people from the polls? Is it the Bradley effect? Is it the South? Is it the effectiveness of McCain's "palling around with terrorists" and "SOCIALIST!" commercials? Is it Palin's appeal to Joe Six Pack?

    Who knows. But McCain wins.

Those were pretty good years economically. Do you think it's a coincidence that the economy started tanking about the time the Dems took over Congress?

I hate fox news, but in this case, they are not on the bandwagon (for obvious reasons), but they understand what America wants, or, rather, does not want.

Yeah, cause that's how Congressional fiscal policy tends to have an impact on the economy. They make new legislation and the next day the economy collapses. Cause an economy as expansive and complex as this country's tend to react to policy shifts overnight.

Tell that to YieldinHiding who blamed the Republicans for 6 years of controlling the executive and legislative. My main point is those were pretty decent years excluding the war.

I'm not being sarcastic at all. And yes, I don't think McCain will win. Basically, I knew there's about a 10% chance for McCain several months ago. I even created a post that Obama will steamroll in early September. I had hope.... but, the days have drawn to a close with nothing substantial happening to assist the Republican ticket.

I think Obama is the wrong choice. But, I believe I am in the minority.

You didn't seem to catch the sarcasm there. I need a special sarcasm font.

    Wow ... speechless ...

    We'll see!

The table may turn the other way ...

I'm ready for either situation. So congrats to you if McCain gets the honors of cleaning up the impact of the last 8 years. :)

Can't agree that Sarah Palin handled herself well afterwards. The woman was thrown into quite the situation, I'll give her that. If she does become our VP I just hope she learns a few valuable lessons ... truth & integrity! One can hope.

I was just curious as to why you were so convinced McCain didn't have a chance after all.
