Former first lady ‘actively considering a presidential run,’ aide says

ALBANY, N.Y. - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has begun active consideration of a 2008 run for president and has personally asked some fellow top New York Democrats for their support in the event she goes ahead with such a campaign, a top adviser said Sunday.

"As Senator Clinton said, she was going to begin actively considering a presidential run after the election. That process has begun," said Howard Wolfson.

    Memo to Democratic Party (and this does not even take into account that everyone hates Hillary Clinton) : Sitting Senators do not win elections. Their voting records are too exposed to intellectually dishonest soundbyte attacks. Nominate a governor (Richardson, Vilsack).

    Since the Dems won both the house and senate what's the point? I was told in my political science class that the recent swing in control will deter many dems who aren't Governors from running?

    But either way she might do decent, but if McCain throws his hat in I think she's fucked. Everybody loves that guy.

    If she runs against McCain, the Democratic Party needs to come up with some ungodly amount of money to employ Karl Rove to run a smear campaign on McCain. That would get it done.
