die on a hilltop.. eyeing the crows,
waiting for your lids to close..
but you want to watch as they peck your flesh..
Ironic that they go for the eyes first

Just a couple of guys trying to capitalize on the state of affairs. I am curious to know how well it will sell.

    I found thier homepage..http://www.waronterrortheboardgame.com/

    That's kind of stupid, imo.

But isn't it a bit tasteless?
That depends on your taste. Personally, we think the actual "War on Terror" is in pretty bad taste. This is just a board game.

    They make a point though

  • Unfortunately, being a tasteless twat isn't illegal and is protected by virtue of the fact that our societies are relatively free. You take the bad with the good ...
  • Damn, I’m tempted to get one.
Sounds like a souped up RISK or something.

I don’t see anything offensive about it.

    From the website:
We don't know what will happen in the world, but all we ask for in playing War on Terror, the boardgame, is open-mindedness. Instead of expressing knee-jerk horror and outrage at the casual and indiscriminate funding of terrorism in our game, accompanied, as it is, by tongue-in-cheek humour, think about real-world events. Think about what separates a terrorist act from a sanctioned act. One takes place within the rules and one without. And who writes the rules?
Well, in this case, we did.

The game could go on forever. Say you choose to be the Bin-man and you are hiding out in a cave. Years could pass and you would still be on the same game. All your Saturday nights pass as they are making a ton of money off of the state of affairs while pretending to hunt you down. I wonder how many times you would have to roll the dice if you were the Bin-man? Or how many caves you can jump to with a double six?
You've changed your place in this world!

I might accuse some people on here (myself included) of knee jerking from time to time. Someone whose life has been directly impacted by terrorism? I might forgive negative reactions from those people.

i was referring to the former generally, not the latter. so, i agree.

Good point. But really, it's not glorifying anything so even those people should take it with a grain of salt.

….it’s just a board game. It’s no more insensitive than any video game or movie about war, or media coverage of any war.

It’s not like they are calling a certain religion or race terrorists, the game simply displays how terrorism is manipulated for political gain by any country or group with enough money to fund it. Real life is offensive. And dumb.

IMO, it is a good way to open a dialogue about the whole situation….

And, yes… people still play board games. I played Mission RISK last week and kicked some green army ass! Haha.
Board games are a throw back…actual interaction between family and friends. Good times.

I found this to be amusing...

TerrorBull Games, of Cambridge, which is behind the game, said: "When a board game includes Suicide Bomber cards, Dirty Bombs, Nuclear Weapons and a balaclava with the word Evil stitched across the forehead, you know you're in for a quality evening's entertainment."
"If no one sees you, you're not here at all"

    It's a joke.
And as anyone who watches any television sitcoms knows... not all jokes are funny.
