Excellent photos (as always
)
love the third pic from Prague.. as they say, a picture paints a thousand words.
It looks like a Banksy .. here's a couple of my favourites you might like:♥ ♪ ♪0 -
banksy is brilliant. he did a brilliant painting on the segregation wall in israel
<img src="http://www.cynical-c.com/archives/bloggraphics/wbwall.jpg">"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

True, but not always: the line between street art and pure vandalism is a very, very thin one.0 -

i've already said as much elsewhere...but figured i'd say it here too. thus why i entitled it graffiti AND public art, b/c yes...i AM aware graffiti CAN be public art, and it CAN be vandalism...whereas public art is just that, public art. either way, graffiti, art or vandalism, and all forms of public art.....STILL all say something about a city and it's people.and for that, i appreciate it all.
in regards to banksy....love his work!
here's another from prague :
and hows about some christo in NYC circa february 2005? :
and, a little public sculpture in pistoia, italy :Stay with me...

i remember seeing those pictures of the segregation wall a few months ago. those are neat.
as far as the gates in central park..........too artsy-fartsy for me. i didn't see it in person, but had no urge to."PC Load Letter?! What the fuck does that mean?"

i did too...very cool.
in regards to the gates, first and foremost..to each his/her own. that said, they most definitely are meant to be *experienced*...true installation art is meant for such, not just to be seen...and certainly not just pictures. i LOVED them....but i DID see/experience them in person...and what a WORLD of difference. but, as i said...we all our entitled to our own opinions...and not all art is going to light a firs of interest for each of us...and that's cool.
anyway, i would REALLY love to see more examples posted by others..in their own towns, cities...favorite examples...etc. share!Stay with me...

I love Christo!!! Did lessons on him last year and they kids were very impressed. For me, he explains what art is about simply through his art...Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?0 -

D2D you know I love graff, so it's very nice to see some of Prague's. Last time I was there I was amazed how much the scene was booming over there, but I was not around long enhough to make something myself, alltho I did in 1997.
This is the fruit of my labour on a sunny saturday afternoon:

Just a little bump for Public Art!
Toronto has a festival on right now called Luminato. To celebrate, some public art has been installed in buildings throughout downtown. My sister and I went to have a look at a couple of them.
"Le Grand Mobile" was pretty spectacular!

also... down at the harbourfront, just at the foot of the CN tower, they have set up 20 searchlights, each one controlled by a device that reads peoples' pulse.... so you go up, grab the 'handles', and the searchlight flashes to the beat of your pulse! so, there are 20 peoples' pulses, all criss-crossing above the harbourfront.... it was incredible! and so much fun! my sister kept trying to run around in circles enough to get her heartrate up! (but ended up feeling pretty silly about it....lol)
The event is called PULSEfront, and you can read about it here...

I saw the Banksy exhibit in L.A. last summer. It was very cool in the sense that they didn't announce the actual location...you had to do some detective work!
The location was a very non-descript warehouse space in an industrial area of downtown L.A.0 -
Dreamn' I didn't see this thread before. I like your pictures.&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0
