we're worthless anyway
with blue eyes turned grey
blinded by misery and grief

we stumbled aimless
greeted only by pain
lost in acres of woe

counting stars on the horizon
waiting for day to rise
and for night to falter

for snow to give way to rain
washed clean from the windshield
wiped clean from our minds

like tracks across the pavement
leading toward a ditch
on the side
of the road.

    -My favorite Bushisms:
"I've coined new words like misunderstanding and Hispanically."
"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"
"These people don't have tanks. They don't have ships. They hide in caves. They send suiciders out." -of terrorists
    "They misunderestimated me."
"They want the federal government controlling Social Security like it's some kind of federal program."
"You teach a child to read and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test."
"You might want to comment on that, Honorable." -to NJ's sec. of state the Honorable DeForest Soaries Jr.
"The most important job is not to be governer, or first lady in my case."
"My pro-life position is I believe there's life. It's not necessarily based in religion. I think there's a life there, therefore the notion of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
"If the terriers and barrifs are torn down, this economy will grow."
"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier. Just so long as I'm the dictator."

    we slid into the ditch
    drunk on speed
    the thrill of the moment
dissipated with the red and blue lights

he walked up slowly blood rolling in my eyes
shined the flashlight in my brother's eyes
for certain i was burning until a voice
    appeared and said
i will give you lift son
just don't let this happen again
