morning prayers

I pray in the mornings when I awake,
but than there was you,
Although I am hurting you haven't shaken my faith,
I can't let you,

You lent me your ear and I gave you my heart,
I guess I really wanted to,
Despite it all you turned your back on me,
because I know you needed to,

I can't hate you, there is still love,
I'm not selfish enough to demand what is not mine,
So when I see you and you treat me like the plague,
I will smile and take what I deserve with no whimpers, no wines,

What you want and need is not with me,
so I will lick my wounds privately,
I gave you what I could, what was not broken,
You pushed me away,
so I let you go,

Your choices are just and there is nothing I can say,
yet I still look to the Heavens and think of you today,
I don't dream anymore because it is magic and not real,
but despite my convictions, I'm still human and able to feel,

So, I pray in the mornings when I awake,
and I still keep you in my prayers every day...
