Exploitation, I'm only replying to correct my grammar, lol.
As long as there has been people, then advantage has been taken at some point from one to another, I need no proof, it's plain to see.Can not be arsed with life no more.0 -

so where is the line drawn between advantage and exploitation?
if i find your weakness and use it, is that me exploiting you or me just making a wise and informed decision to my advantage based on the knowledge i have attained?hear my name

I think Trent Reznors blurry one best describes it.
You know what I'm saying about the fact that humans have exploited others when possible and need be, to be true, your just getting pedantic about it.:)Can not be arsed with life no more.0 -

now that sounds like revisionist history to me. you say since the dawn of time and yet without proof we really have no clue. we look back from our perspective, see that ever since history has been recorded, exploitation has occurred. i'm not saying it didnt happen but i cant be as damn sure as you.hear my name

I've still not read it. I'e got a copy of Lattimore's translation with me here though.
Um, let's think. There was straight out rivalry between Achilles and Agamemnon over a woman, but that's gone on since blokes had dicks. There was lots of sacrificing, eating, sleeping, Nestor ranting, then some fighting, and Hector getting killed, then the burial of Achilles's bumchum Patroclus, and a bit of sport.
The Odyssey was all about disguise and lying, as Odysseus realises he has to be literally "no one" to outwit all manner of creatures en route to Ithaca, then pretend to be a beggar to get entry to his palace and outwit/slay Penelope's suitors. But there wasn't an Iago-type there, as far as I can think.0 -
Byrnzie wrote:Have you read 'The Gospel of Judas'? Turns out Judas betrayed Jesus at Jesus' bidding, and was regarded by Jesus as his most favoured disciple.
Yep, and you could bring all kinds of theological arguments into play, that he was facilitating mankind's salvation, etc.0 -
I can't even remember what sparked this thread off. I was ratarsed. I think I was reading some Marxist bollocks.0

Oh, I haven't read "The Gospel of Judas", though.
Right, that's me done on this topic.0 -

A man with a taste for all things literary reading Marxist bollocks? Better be careful old bean. That shit will blunt your imagination in no time at all.0 -

It's pretty interesting stuff.
In fact, all of the 'banned' Gospels are interesting, mainly because of the fact that they're largely opposed to what the Church would have us believe. The Gospel of Thomas is probably the main one to get yer teeth into, if you're so inclined.0 -

Followed closely by Caliban and Bill Clinton.0 -
