Workday Sunrise
On Sawtooth Marsh

The sun rises,
hissing dew burns
like an angry cat
spits at a Cheshire moon,
as if saying:
“Dawn has
no business here”,
'midst the echoes of night.

Fog melts away,
sizzling drops flambe
like cherries jubilee
burst at 200 proof Everclear
and says:
“Light is
a luxury now”,
beside dark mire of Swamp.

Day erupts clearly,
steaming rays cascade
like Vesey’s Paradise
blooms’-a-mile-deep-canyon,
and calls:
“Beyond Void”
as Nothingness slinks
beneath once frosty marshwaters.

Life’s morning calls,
beckoning duties swirl
like churning sea-trough
breaks at rocky Newport shore,
and says:
“Into Void,
jumps Nothingness”,
and day fades into pale sunlight.

    night lies on the grass like a blanket
    under which worms tickle it in the dirt
    it's where the word "squiggle" comes from
    the sound grass makes while worms wiggle
    it says "wiggle, squigglebugs, wiggle"
    but it's very quiet, this sound

    quiet,

    hush now,

    i'm growing

    and the dew
    passion brewed
    from it all

    so, why wouldn't it hiss like an angry cat
    when it's made to ether itself?
    It's all yellow.

    on the Marsh,
    mist & sun
    diamonds on
    teeming ripples
    squiggling in
    yellow dawn,
    it is
    of course
    the energy
    of which
    stars are
    made, released
    gasping for
    the galaxies.

    It sure was hell
    having to get up solely to work.

    And just
    then, my
    yellow cat
    hissed at
    me, or
    I might
    have called
    in &
    lingered home
    listening to
    Ten, or
    something
    squiggle across
    the ether.

    In private consultation with the appropriate sources, it appears it was I who introduced this term into the beautiful cassiopeiac lexicon of wonder, rather inadvertently, when writing "squiggle" for a signature one time...so, I feel morally obligated to

    squiggle

    for you now, PastaNazi.

    And it's not worms that squiggle. It's fractals on a mandelbrot that manage this infinite feat. :)
