I like
Blue skies
And matches
I like
Disguise
Dark patches
I like
To hide
And watch it

Afternoon shimmers
In twilight
Sunrise
At sunset
With ashes

I like
Blue skies
And matches
I like
Disguise
Dark patches
I like
To hide
And watch it

Upon dawn set
Light up
The matches
Sun tan
In starlight
With passion

I like
Blue skies
And matches
I like
Disguise
Dark patches
I like
To hide
And watch it
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
(Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
(And function)
Function is the key

I like looking at fire, like a moth to the flame, but not starting it.
  • I have a few incidents with fire in my past....um yeah I started em...totally no damage...I contained them. Stupid hangover. Plus the big one was kinda provoked. Long story, but funny as hell. I will shut up now.

indigo or the blue nude dressed and digging

I sit with mud on the bottom of my jeans. Muddy genes, I have to laugh, digging in the damp soil. October is a good month for planting because the soil gives way, the loam, my eyes roam turning upward toward the sky and then out across to the blue ridge. The Sky is Gray, Ernest T said. He said the sky is gray, but for some of us it is indigo blue. My jeans, mud on my seat, I sit digging in the dirt and planting indigo irises, and thinking of the sky above, and that somewhere beyond the crisp, cool, gray, it is blue. And I wonder why I c y, and what this vision could do beyond the tobacco fields, beyond the smoking, haze gray ships. The sky was gray for a grandmother trying to save her boy from toxicity, and I wonder when we all c y 2 , what will we do?

(and a foot note because it's actually ERNEST J.)

Ernest J. Gaines, in his own words:

"We all know--at least intellectually--that we're going [to die]. The difference is being told, 'Okay, it's tomorrow at 10 a.m.' How do you react to that? How do you face it? That, it seems to me, is the ultimate test of life.

"When I speak to black students about Hemingway, they often ask me what I expect them to learn from 'that white man.' I tell them: 'All Hemingway wrote about was grace under pressure. And he was talking about you. Can you tell me a better example of grace under pressure than our people for the past three hundred years? Grace under pressure isn't just about bullfighters and men at war. It's about getting up every day to face a job or a white boss you don't like but have to face to feed your children so they'll grow up to be a better generation.' "

My husband has set a few fires (not on purpose). He is a city boy and when we moved to Oklahoma for a few years he decided he wanted to burn the grass to clear it out (he had no idea what he was doing or how fast it catches fire on dry grass). He did that a few times. He also tipped the tractor and caught it on fire. I'll just put it this way, the fire department said if they have to come out one more time, he is going to have to pay a fine. He stopped after that.

    Sure beats cow tippin.;)

    That is an interesting story.
Once we were in an open field in Crosswicks-Chesterfield and lit a buch of flats on fire(with a bottle of Southern Comfort in our hands) and the fire got just a wee-little bit too big, and the town's one firetruck showed up to see what was going on.Needless to say,we didn't get arrested.
    That night anyway.;)

  • Matches p2 - the burn

    As I
    Turn my head away
    Smolders
Will they present a better day
    As I
    Walk to shadows from light
    Smolders
    Bring upon my nostrils delight

    Walk away
    Smell of smoldering ash
    Be a ghost
    Time to be somewhere else
    Mend your mind
    Wasn’t as fun this time

    Burn away
    To bring a better day
    Pass on bye
    The all turn blind eye
    Never known
    This day was coming upon
    Shown dismay
Do they know what it is all about

    Don’t turn back
    Make them come for you
    Why stop now
    Time to carry through
    A simple plan
    But how it comforts you

    Passing time
    Light the fireworks
    Frame of mind
    Takes away some hurt
    Mend the soul
Is that what this is for
    Watch it burn
    Precedent blaze
    Taking it to the ground
    Instance gone
    In a heap of dust
    Let it go
    Do it until they know

    This is here
    What will come up now
    Set a blaze
    Start it with your match
    Do again
    Use the whole damned pack

    Let it burn
    Crashing to the ground
    Shimmering light
Break the dark of my night
    Let it burn
    Bring on better days
    Let it burn
    Troubles up in blaze
    Let it burn
    As I run away
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

I love the smell of fire and watching it. As a kid I use to love the smell of cigarettes also but don't anymore. It is amazing how things become ashes and how it can destroy. Fire reminds me of natural disasters in that way. Kinda like it is beautiful and dangerous at the same time thus that saying "playing with fire". That is what I think about my ex - if you play with fire you will get burned. :) This is a good read depop. I like how when reading your work I see it in different ways - like it can have more than one meaning behind it - being literal or symbolic.
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!

Thanks twin. I like the idea of having multiple meanings or a lieral/symbolic abstract. I guess that way only I trully know what it means. Also, it allows anyone to imagine however they want. Often when I write, and there are a few ways of looking at it, I am writing about multiple things.

Now, are these pieces symbolic or literal?

    New night
    Come to me
    New night
    Set me free
    New night
    Light it up
    New night
    I have to see

    Set the stage
    But out of sight
    Bought some time
    Their noose is tight
    When they come
    Then they’ll see
    In the light
    They’ll find me

    Kindle stacked
    From horrid years
    In their heats
    With their tears

    Can’t suppress
    No forgotten times
    It’s in my thoughts
    Can’t cleanse my mind

    Let it burn
    Right to the ground
    Saw the fire
    Haunts day and night
    Gone to ashes
    Unforgotten time
    A pain conceived
    Of theirs was mine

    Let it burn
    To wick from match
    Let them learn
    Fears that hatch
    Let it burn
    Unyielding flame
    Let it burn
    Wished them the same
    Let it burn
    Relive my pain

    And justice come
    But not to me
    For in this ash
    I will be set free
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
