she wonders why she does it
and what its purpose is
when she has to wear those long sleeves
in the hot hot heat
is it to keep the pain away
or embrace it within her arms
is it how she justifies
what she can't undone
she needs it like a desparate breath of air
it takes so long for the scars to heal
both the ones easily seen and those deep inside her head
but in the end she knows if she looks closely
tis always a reminder of who she is.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
