Gone Fishing

With images of heather and musky wetness,
a true nature lover's paradise,
he steps into his boat.

Parting the waves in his glory
he slides effortlessly through the water
towards his unsuspecting prey.

Arriving in his honey hole
he wets a line
and waits.
Can't you see that there's light in the dark.
Nothing's quite what it seems in the city of dreams.

    how long?
    he doesn't know
    then...
    he feels a tug
    the bait has been taken

    he let's the line run
    his prey fights
    when it feigns submission
    he goes with it
    and pulls in the slack

    this one's a beauty
    a fighter
    patience required for this one
    but just what he needs -
    a challenge

    doesn't know what it wants
    to be taken
    or let go
    so contrary
    got to be a she

    when he finally lands her
    she lies spent and glistening
    panting her final breaths
    she's done

    he smiles
    his hunger fed.
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say
