a friend a few doors down in my dorm just lost a friend and i just decided to write this since the thoughts and words came easily. let me know what you think:

STILL HERE WHEN YOU'RE GONE

i wanted to know if you were there
i was told that you were gone
left us for the man upstairs
but we knew the time was wrong

your time around was cut well short
we've heard this story all before
but not in context of this sort
we couldnt imagine this in store...for us

you left us now
we dont know why we dont know how
but what we know is that you're still here

you're gone for good
we know its unfair but its understood
you'll always be within our hearts

now our lives have fallen apart

all in all we felt the woe
we didnt think it could be true
we never thought we'd have to know
what the world was like without you

we know you're up there smiling down
not here but we can feel you all around
while you're sleeping safe and sound
we'll make up for what you'll miss while you arent around

we heard the news
but losing you wasnt our choice to choose
but now we'll always remember

you left us now
we dont know why we dont know how
but what we know is that you're still here when you're gone

you're gone for good
we know its unfair but its understood
you'll always be within our hearts

we'll find a way
we'll find a way to fill you in
you're not here but we'll find a way to make it work and win

you're upstairs now
we've lost a friend and we dont know why or how
but now its time to make up for what we lost by living it all for you

and thats just what we'll do.
"I cant hear you, but i feel the things you say"

A beautifully sweet poem, I particalarily liked the lines quoted above, very encouraging to those who have lost a loved one.

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Suzanne the plans they may put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when icould not find a friend
but I always thought that I would see you again

Won't you look down upon me Jesus
You gotta help me make a stand
you just got to see me through another day
my body's achin' and my time is at hand
I won't make it any other way

oh i've seen fire and i've seen rain
i've sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
but I always thought that I would see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time
My back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines on the ground

i've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end...

this was the song i listened to for weeks after my best friend committed suicide. It is a healer... I hope your friend remembers fondly and I know your hearts will prevail.
    love to you all.

I'm stepping in front of the gushing hydrant in a hurricane. I'd like to see the traction I keep.
