"History is Prologue"

Can anyone explain or give examples of this saying?
I make the shapes come much too close
I pull my eyes out
Hold my breath
And wait until I shake...

    Perhaps that in everything new we do, history plays a part or is the basis for what we do. Just what I thought.

    Also...dictionary.com lists the word "prologue" as "An introductory act, event, or period." History is what comes before us, before *right* *now.* And in two seconds, right now becomes history...what has gone before.

    Voila! History is prologue!
