In this box

Crammed in a box
so safe and so sound,
so high and so tight
we just might hit the ground
Swirling translucence
(snow covered blueness)
so thick and so sure
so strong is this floor
Though our perceptions change from day to day
we are confident in our speach
when we say what we say
in this box that we call home
(like a casket, so confining
when we mumble and we drone)
But to step outside of these binds and constraints,
to move beyond the monotone paints
gives way to a while new outlook on life
The old one was faulty it will not suffice
The sun and sea
The clouds and shore
Nature's beauty,
how it is you I adore
With each new breath of your sweet hum
I alter the definition of what I call love
For you are so clean
and you are so pure
inexplicable has become
the manufactured world's allure
For its walls are too tight
and its walls are to high
Its walls are too thick
and too hard to climb.
The only way out is to
break on through
And that is what an individual must do...

thanks...I wrote it on an airplane a couple years back. I was leaving the US to go to Thailand, which is where I now live. If you think of me being in a plane leaving the US, you can kind of see where the inspiration comes from....The box originating as the airplane in the first section and of course becoming more metaphorical BOX as the writing went on...I share the backround info on this, because I like looking at things I wrote myself and written by others and seeing differant layers of meaning. I think you get more our of poems/lyrics/etc that way...I scream in affirmation

"...break on through to the other side..."
I like it, Karas!!!! A new way to "think outside the box", as it were. It's so cool how our imaginations can just run with one teensy little idea and turn it into something great.
