JimNastics wrote:It's a shame Clare is being dragged along by all this... back in the Audioslave days she was a fantastic member of the community and well liked up all. Now she's become a laughing stock as the apparent ring-leader of the whole street-team / fanatic thing. I guess as the owner of the main CC fan site she's got no choice but to play along, either that or give up the whole thing. But still, that whole album review thing a few posts back was just dreadful, I doubt very much she even believes half of what she wrote deep down. It's all very sad :( I'd love to be able to go through old Audioslaved / CC forum posts she wrote years back, and see how much she's changed her tune in terms of genres / snobbery / artisitic dignity etc...0

Not only that, she went from adoration and praise of the AS boys to pointing out their musical limitations in a big hurry. I actually liked her at one point but now I can't take her seriously.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

I'm just so, so sad. There is so much wrong with all of this I don't even know where to start. What get's me most is the treatment of the people who actually give a crap about this guys music. Do you think on any level he actually realises the extent to which he is alienating himself from everyone? I'd be devastated.......0

It's as if CC is some sort of cult leader, and they are preparing his minions for the final drink of kool aid.0 -

I would love to read what she wrote and your response to her!“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

NewDamage wrote:I finally watched it. All I can say is what...the...fuck??? Chris Cornell and the Pussycat Dolls shouldn't even be in the same fucking state at the same time.
There's been so many threads and posts about CC's downfall, that there isn't much left to say that hasn't been said. All I can say is, as a longtime fan, I have never been so disappointed by a "musical evolution" of a favorite band/artist in my life. Along with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden's music helped define various aspects of my teenage years. In the early to mid 90s I bled Soundgarden. Collected everything I could get my hands on. Saw 9 shows, and keep in mind I was a teenager and they weren't exactly playing in my backyard. I traveled a lot. Still my favorite band to this day. I even played the hell out of all the Audioslave records. To see their amazing frontman turn to this, its a feeling I can't explain. Its getting to the point where its not gonna matter if he makes an amazing "return to form" in the future. Between this bullshit and what's gone on with his boards and having all the "yes" people around him...fuck it
I can completely understand your sadness over what CC has become.
And that video... wow. For the last several months, just when I thought CC was at rock bottom, he gets even lower. That video was pathetic. It's not just dissapointing... it actually angers me. What a joke Timbaland is... is that supposed to be talent??
Honest to God, I was going to buy "Scream" even though I hated all the songs. After watching that video, there's no way I can buy it. I can NOT endorse that bull crap. Good luck, Chris. Thank you for everything through Carry On.0 -

Timbaland was like the puppet master during that video. Truly a disgusting thing to behold.
I was going to buy it too. Even after hearing 5 full songs. Merely because I own every song that has been officially or unofficially released, that Cornell has put vocals on. Like I said before I'm a collector. But as strange as it might feel to pass on this one despite the pile of shit it is, I would feel even more disappointed knowing I was responsible for the purchase of even one copy of this horrific excuse for music.
I hate this type of music, always have. No matter who performs it. If this were truly a collaboration, it probably could've been something pretty special. That is why I tried to stay open minded even though I was skeptical as hell. But its not. Its just Timbaland pulling the strings, and the only thing Chris Cornell-ish about the whole thing is his vocals. It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't write a thing on it. That was my worst fear about it, and seems "whatsoever I feared has come to light."
I liked the quote you mentioned. Cornell once said "music that is driven by money deserves to fail." Seems everything he ever stood for, his musical integrity, is "long gone"I am lost, I'm no guide. But I'm by your side...

eyedclaar wrote:I'm not sure I follow your logic, but then again, I'm not sure I could possibly follow the logic of someone supporting CC at this point. Anyway, how does having 500 posts on the PJ message board prevent one from being a cc street teamer?
I made it pretty clear I don't like his new music so I hardly see how that makes me a street teamer. It also demonstrates that you don't read posts or can't comprehend them because I certainly haven't changed my position abruptly. I make no apologies for supporting Cornell-the guy made music that changed my life-and one solo record isn't going to change that.0 -

sgossard3 wrote:at the same time though i can see why he might WANT to alienate himself from his past... i mean his biggest fans are from his SG days which are also personally his darkest days... maybe he felt his fans didnt support him enough with his alcohol dependency back in the day or there are some that wish he still had those demon to give an edge to his music thats no longer there... or maybe hes just a big dick
But he should wear that as a badge of honor, because it means people related to where he was, and what he had to say meant something to them.
It could have been helpful to some.
Does anyone relate to him now? What does his music say?
Yeah, people that say he needs various muses back in order to make the music they want to hear are assholes, but he shouldn't be throwing the baby out with the bathwater either, and the people were Soundgarden fans aren't the reason his life went in the direction it did. He was the reason his life went in the direction it did.
So, if his reaction to that is killing that particular "Chris" (and's he's written quite a few times of this) by cutting everyone off... that's pretty sad.
It's typical of the intervention, though. They feel you're too weak to be able to deal with your past. I think it's wrong.0 -

Relax, Francis. Find the post where I specifically called YOU a street teamer and then we'll talk about reading comprehension. Something about your defensive nature though... Methinks thou doth protest too much.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer
