Wouldn't Sigur Ros be 50 times better if they sang in English?

Nobody can even understand WTF he is even saying... That is what turns me off to most of their music... it has good emotion but it means nothing to me in any way... and its not even beautiful (just the language, Not the music)... at some parts the language actually sounds kind of nasty with the german "ch" sound

If they did that, you'd find out most of their songs aren't about glaciers after all, but about haddock.

Wouldn't it be better if everyone everywhere just spoke and sang in English?

    Yes.

Wouldn't it be better if everyone was also white while they spoke and sang in English?

So, of course, everyone should sing and speak your language?

i don't think it would be as good

there's a chance that the lyrics wouldn't be awesome

i think they are perfect the way they are

its not even like its pure icelandic theyre singing in... from what i understand they even take liberties with their own language... dr. suessian type shit... so its more about the audio experience and less about you or anyone else understanding it

personally i like it... i cant fall asleep to music with clear lyrics cause i get too caught up listening and interpretting and shit... with sigur ros i just turn it on and relax so easily

im a fan of italian opera and shit though... so i can care less if i understand something... as long as i like the sounds

    No no no!
They have songs about jumping in puddles! I'd rather not understand the lyrics, they're beautiful sounds :) Understanding them would be the biggest anticlimax ever; instead of thinking how cool it'd sound I'd be thinking about how lame the lyrics are!

Yes, but it doesn't have to be english... I'm just saying it would be nice for everyone to understand everything anyone else says... Universal language or way of communicating... I wish I could understand Sigur Ros but I can't so the music is virtually meaningless

I thought music was a universal language?

Music has limited meaning... words have unlimited meaning...

Actually, it's probably the other way around. Which is pretty much the entire point of your thread, surely?

No, i'm right... just think about it...

If words had unlimited meaning, then Sigur Ros' music could have meaning to you no matter what language it was in.

Guessing you are not a Cocteau Twins fan then.... they pretty much made up a language for the majority of their existence.

Beautiful music though so it never really mattered..
