Have You Ever Had To Give Up Tix To A Show You Were Dying To See?

That's what I now have to do with My Morning Jacket tix for New Years Eve and it sucks!

I've never looked forward to a show more than this one besides the Pearl Jam shows I've been to. And now I have to sell my tix because my gf can't make it to NY.

Damn this is really bugging me- the show will be awesome because its on New Years and it's at the most famous arena in the world. Any I got floor seats!!!!And what makes it worse is that I haven't seen them this tour when they were anywhere near my area because I figured the NYE show would be the best.

Okay, my rant is done.

Anyone else ever have a situation like this?

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not selling those tix here so this isn't a way to promote my sale.

    I had to miss Hold Steady TWICE this year because of work :( I also sold my Lupe Fiasco tickets because I had KoL tickets the same night.

    Absolutely, RUSH Counterparts World Tour at the US Air Arena. I couldn't go it was opening night for my softball team and I was the captain. I gave it to 2 girls who wanted to see them for the first time.

    I regret it now cause it's the only tour of RUSH that I've missed since Grace Under Pressure.

    Oh yea I remember you writing about having tix to both Lupe and KoL. And I remember you were leaning towards Lupe and I was one person who was trying to convince you to see KoL lol. At least you saw a great show that night. Im going to be so bummed out that night, and then I'll see the amazing setlist the next day.

    It was a tough call, but the gf was adamant. KoL was fantastic though.

    I have tickets to MMJ's rescheduled Chicago show, but I'm not sure yet if I'll be in town.

    Can you not sell one ticket and go by yourself?

    Nine Inch Nails at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Had surgery the week before and couldn't make it. Those tickets were difficult to come by but I somehow did just that and then had to give them away.

    I normally would do this (I go to shows by myself a lot) but since it's New Years it would be like choosing MMJ over my girlfriend, and then all hell would break loose :).

    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    ... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    Trust me, I am. I bet that night I'll have to hide the fact that I'm in a pissy mood because I expect them to play a setlist comparable to Bonnaroos.

    White Stripes @ Tweeter Center a few years back...I was very sad that day due to the fact i gave the tickets up for an exam...then the exam was cancelled!

    I was pissy the night they cancelled in Manchester last month (had tickets... got refund :(). I couldn't even begin to imagine how i'd feel if they hadn't cancelled and I just couldn't go... So sorry dude :(

    tons of times! but i go to a LOT of concerts every year, so bound to miss some.

    (had tickets Pearl Jam, Prince, David Bowie, Aerosmith & Smashing Pumpkins shows cancelled!)
    Anyway, had tickets to the following shows but had to miss em, most were in small dublin venues:
    Bell X1 - The Point
    The Decemberists
    Dr Dog
    God Is An Astronaut
    The Jimmy Cake
    Loaded
    Morrissey
    The Streets
    Tool & System Of A Down - Ozzfest 02
    Wilco
    Xavier Rudd

    and had to pull out of electric picnic at last minute this year, major bummer.


    man, i missed an awful lot of good bands that i wanted to see!

    I've been lucky and never had to.

    But I almost missed AC/DC in Toronto. I got knee surgery the day before. I was in a ton of pain, and I was still a little fucked up from the pills and stuff, but nothing was going to stop me from going.

    I think I remember reading your post about that. I'm happy you could make it. I'm being very reluctant in selling my tix so far and trying to find some miracle cure for this mess lol.

    More than once.

    This past summer to STP in AC at the Borgata.
    In '06 to Pearl Jam in East Rutherford.

    Luckily I got to see both bands other times on both those tours.

    No, but almost once. For PJ in Vancouver 2005, my niece flew up to go with me and her purse with license and passport was lost/stolen at the airport the night before. She was able to get a copy of her expired passport faxed here and luckily we made it across the border with that! :) It would have killed me to miss it!
