Dude,
You still out there?0 -
A lil update on behalf of eli:
So he made just right outside of Savannah GA. He is taking a break at the moment due to a disheartening lack of support from the charity he is riding for. The branch of ccfa that he has been dealing with has shown very little interest and minimal support for the cause. I let him explain further if he chooses to do so.
Basically, he cannot do this event without the support of a non profit organization. Otherwise his friends and himself would have the whole thing set up already.
Due to the charity issue, he is considering finishing the trip down to the Florida area until the cold front passes. He would like to do this so he can continue to raise awareness and money for chron's and colitis until he decides what his next step should be.
I will be contacting ccfa tomorrow to see if its at least possible to allow my boyfriend, who is a website designer to create the site for them and him alike. (He needs some very basic features to make the website less confusing and easier to manage than what he was dealt with)
word, happy election week ya'll *heres to getting a last minute email from ten club so eli can watch vfc*0 -
Aww Mandi, that's not exactly the news I bet we all wanted to hear! But come on CCFA, support Eli....Is there anything that the memebers here can do Mandi? It really sucks! After all what Eli is trying to do and they're not supporting him? I really hope that there's something that can be done! Keep us posted!"Does anyone remember laughter?"

hi there:) The pit members have been so great and so supportive ( i know he appreciates it even more than me) Everyone has done so much here just by donating and passing the word along. (wow, pearl jam is such a lucky band to have fans like you guys) I wish there was something i could do but you basically (for tax reasons, and money collection) have to be under an established non profit organization i guess (otherwise, like i said, he would be rolling by now)
Just keep up the good work guysMucho love to all of ya and thanks for supporting my bud on his venture.

LeatherMandi wrote:As some of you may already know, a regular at the pit (stickboy) Has embarked on quite the adventure. He will be riding his bike from Queens, NYC to San Diego California. He is riding for the CCFA and i am urging anyone who can afford it to donate to crohn's and colitis victims and make it worth Eli's while:)
He has already come a long way! He passed through and left Philadelphia and southwest bound tonight. Yes, he really is riding a bike from NYC to San Diego with not much more than food money and a sleeping bag. Please share this link with family and friends.
You can donate securely and easily here:

hey peoples, just a quick update from Savannah, Georgia. I know Mandi already touched on whats been going on a bit, but I just wanted to come in and say thanx again for everyones help, donations, wishes and support. At the moment I am having real issues with the CCFA as far as their support goes. I'm hardly getting any feedback when I ask them for updates and if the websites been updated. All I'm getting is the feedback my sis is having with them thru phone calls almost on a daily basis and from some of you guys here who stay in contact with them. Sis has been trying to keep in touch with them since Im on the road a lot and its frustrating her just as much. They keep giving her excuses as to why they cant update the page until 2009 cause of software problems and lack of IT guys, etc. Also trying to still get sponsors and the only one we've gotten so far is Panera Bread who does a lot of charity work and are willing to donate proceeds of meals bought to the CCFA when people come in with the flyers for CyclingAcrossamerica. That would help a lot and weres still working on other sponsors like Best Western who showed interest but we're still waiting to hear back from them. Basically a place like Best Western or whatever hotel, hostel or Inn wants to support would help me tremendously cause Im going thru LONG stretches of nothingness and darkness at times, not to mention its getting dark earlier and colder so I gotta keep it safe more than anything. I'm thinking about Florida for a few months to keep warm while at the same time even if Im working to sustain myself I plan on still doing my thing to raise money and awareness on a daily basis wether it be by biking to a job or biking every day just distributing flyers and such along the beach and tourist spots. I figure I can stay involved down there for a bit and I still have plenty of friends, family(who would also get involved and/or donate) and a lot of my stuff down there from my old apartment with an old roommate so that would help me and the cause also. And when March or April comes around I can continue out West and still keep raising money and awareness. I had thoughts of ditching CCFA and joining another charity but I dont want everyones efforts here and money to go to waste so I'm gonna stick it out with them till the end as much as I could just to make sure that we didnt do this for nothing.
If anyone has any thoughts, questions, ideas, advice feel free to post em or hit me up. I'll be here for maybe another day or 2 and then head to florida.Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...

Maybe the CCFA really doesnt understand the the true scope of what you are undertaking.
Wish you the best Eli, just sent some support, hope it helps. Stay safe and stay STRONG!>>>>
