Probably the first post here about the Dire Straits...

I was driving in a car today until this song came on the radio... I have to admit that it's one of the best songs ever written. Great vide, great tune while driving your vehicle. Anyone else share this?

    Totally. One of my favorite songs. I loved early Dire Straits (pre 'money for nothing')

    I remember listening to Dire Straits from a very early age. Sultans of Swing is a timeless classic.

    Agreed........the band did some amazing stuff prior to "making it big."

    Mark is an amazing guitar player. My dad has an album with him and Chet Atkins that is pretty phenomenal. Yes, Chet is country...get over it. lol

    That song came on the rental car when I was driving around with my uncle when I visited him in Kauai. He had a great story about how when he went to Australia in the early 80's that album was the only casette he had with him in his car, and he used to listen to Sultans of Swing as he drove around looking for surf. Everytime he hears it, it brings back all those vivid memories.

    Money for Nothing is still prolly my fav song of theirs. The live versions on YouTube w/special guests are amazing

    Actually, so far I only like Sultans of Swing. Most other songs are crappy, in case one of you can give me some relevant evidence Dire Straits has more good songs (YouTube).

    Heard Sultans of Swing on the way home from the gym tonight. Such a great song. BTW, I think Money For Nothing sucks and is one of my least favorite songs ever.

    Yeah, I like Sultans of Swing. It's a cool tune. :)

    But Love Over Gold would have to be my favorite Dire Straits album.
    One of those albums you can just put on and walk away.
    Telegraph Road is just magic.

    Oh and I love Brother's In Arms. :)

    If you can, pick up the 20th anniversary reissue of Brothers in Arms. It's got a 5.1 mix on one side if you have a dvd player, but the cd side is remastered and sounds great.
