Why Chris Martin Should Just SHUT UP

He makes a friggin fool of himself everytime he speaks...

Coldplay's Chris Martin has said that his band are "less shit than they used to be" in an interview to be broadcast tonight.

The singer made the comment to DJ Christian O'Connell after their show in Munich last week.

The concert is being broadcast in full tonight on Absolute Radio, which has today been re-branded from Virgin Radio.

Of the concert, Martin says: "I think our concert is the least shit Coldplay concert at the moment that you could have possibly ever seen. Do you see what I mean? We're better than we used to be."

Asked whether the band felt more comfortable playing large venues, Martin commented: "We've turned from a Mars Bar into a King-Sized Mars Bar."

Martin also outs himself as an unlikely fan of Nickelback.

Of the much-maligned Canadian band he says: "I have nothing but respect for Nickelback.

"They take a lot of flak from people who have never done fuck all in their life. And I think they're great. That is my final word."

The concert and interview can be heard on Absolute Radio from 7pm (BST) tonight.

    I used to like Coldplay a lot and thought the first 3 albums were great. Unfortunately they are a bit like very rich chocolate.

    Too much and it makes you puke.

    I like Coldplay but must admit that Martin really brings it on himself. Between saying stupid things like this and the worst, poppiest supports acts possible, Coldplay makes itself an easy target, their music aside.

    Though, seeing the Nickleback quote makes me think that CM is trying to defend Coldplay in that typically English passive-aggressive manner.

    I wish Chris Martin would stop this "oh but we're not really good" self depricating crap. I don't think Coldplay are that good, but it's as plain as mud that Martin thinks his band is amazing.

    I think it is ridiculous that people hate Nickleback so much. Why not just not listen to them? The pathetic part comes in when people start to hate 'em and can't let it go. Chris Martin is right on that front.

    Not that I like Nickleback (I don't), I just don't understand why they get more shit than all the other shitty bands out there. I mean, their music is pretty lame, but not in a manner that would make them stand out in comparison to many other artists out there. They have a lot of catchy/stupid songs, but so does everyone else on the radio. Just curious on this one...
