Man, I love this Pit! I never heard of this band, and dont know much about Mark Lanegan (except Screaming trees, Mad Seasoon). But I just saw that youtube clip and previewed some songs on amazon...I'm getting this album, thanks!
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

It was a great gig, very subdued... they just stuck to soulsavers songs, Mark sang on the main set but not on the encore, where they brought out the guy that did support and did a couple of overly long gospel songs. The support guy really got on my tits. He's a big beardy texan in a cowboy hat, and he plays an out of tune guitar very loudly while wailing over the top of it, and stamping his foot beside a microphone. The crowd seemed to enjoy him, but it was maybe cos it was a quite an old crowd and they were scared of not liking him in case it meant they were over the hill and couldn't handle experimental music any more. Kind of closed eye, "Jazz nods" of a agreement at his art.

The highlights of the gig, are Mark's voice, any song where mark is joined by the gospel guitar, and the amazing juxtaposition between the chilled beats and Rich Warren's brilliant crunchy guitar playing...

wasn't "Kingdom of Rain" originally off "Whiskey for the Holy Ghost?"

Are those halos in your hair
    Or diamonds shining there
Without a hope, without a prayer
This rain beats down like death
You turn your eyes to better men
Before I go I'm hangin' across my nail
I'll long for you in there

Girl lay your shame to rest
Hope lies close to your breast
You stoop to feed the crows
To let 'em scratch the truth already cold
Before I go I'm hangin' across my nail
I'll long for you in there
And every kingdom of rain comes pourin' down
Cause I loved you so much
Cause I loved you so much

Would you put halos in your hair
Without a hope without a prayer
With lies close to your breast
You finally lay your shame to rest
Before I go I'm hangin' across my nail
I'll long for you in there
And every kingdom of rain comes fallin' down
Cause I loved you so long
cause I loved you so long
Cause I loved you so long

Awesome lyrics.:) And yes it is.:)

This album opened up for me the whole other world that is Mark Lanegan and all of his projects. Moved on to Scraps, then Whiskey, and Bubblegum will be next. Always loved his stuff with Queens and Screaming Trees, not sure why I took so long to check out the rest. Better later than never.

Definitely an excellent album, the b-side "Blues Run the Game" (cover song) is a must have as well.

This album is kind of the what I was hoping for when Cornell announced that he was working with fuckhead Timbaland - to expand and broaden their horizons, especially if they wanted to take a more electronica approach instead of using a band with real instruments. Instead, as I'm sure most have noticed by the 40 threads on the topic, Cornell/Timbaland have made the same old, generic, manufactured pop shit. How disappointing.

Anywho, Lanegan proves once again on this album that most everything he touches turns to gold.

It's on i-Tunes. ;) But I'll see if I can upload it later tonight.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

I'd love that thrown my way too if possible. I'm a total Lanegan whore these days.
