Just wondered what you people thought was Cornell's best vocal performance?
I'm not sure if you can top this?

Don't know if it tops it, but it probably comes close:

There's a ton of stuff on youtube. But I think that link is a pretty good approximation because whilst there are probably better perfromaces about the recording qualities are generally shit. Regardless there's enough evidence I think to prove that during SG he was far from the studio artists that people only familiar with AS may think.
Cornell putting Plant to shame in concert:

You have to turn this one up a bit because the quality is pretty bad.

This has to be the only live recording of Birth Ritual in existence! And it's cool to know that he could nail all the notes live, fucking nice!0 -

The "Singles" performance is also live I think, though it is only part.0 -
this is awesome. i hope cornell is looking back on this right now.Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.0 -

someone help me here:
his most impressive is on an album before Badmotorfinger
its like the beginning of a song, and you here this whistle/wail. it sounds like an instrument, but as the intro progresses its clear its chris's voice and not some machine.
cant think of the song or album0 -

Yea me too! Always been one of my fav SG songs; however, I absolutely loved how they amped the song up live. It was def more of a rocker live and it kicked serious ass.

I believe you're referring to "Power Trip" from Louder Than Love. Yet another kick ass song and killer vocal performance. There's nothing better than Soundgarden, my friends.0 -
Could be Loud Love. When I first heard that song, I could have sworn it was a guitar.0

Say Hello To Heaven.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0

The intro on Loud Love is Kim's guitar. Can't escape from the common rule...
If you hate something, don't you do it too0 -
That's my thinking. Its actually a guitar and Chris in unison.OffHeGoes132 wrote:I believe you're referring to "Power Trip" from Louder Than Love. I've heard him sing this song better, but this one is pretty damn good and as a band, its one of the best performances I've ever seen from SG.

Well, Kim's guitar is in the beginning of the song, but his guitar fades out and Chris' voice comes in on the same held-out note. I assume that is what they meant by it sounding like the guitar. It isn't until the very end of Chris' note that you realize that Kim's guitar faded out and his voice came in. Incredible vocal performance.
I don't think it has been mentioned before, but the song Cold Bitch is another one with just jaw-dropping vocals. I think that Chris has said in a recent interview that he hates the fact that he used high notes in that song just because he could, but it is still a pretty impressive performance.0 -

Yeah but Cornells voice kind of 'morphs' out of it near the end of the intro0
