I know it might be painful to dredge up the memories, but go ahead :D

and don't be embarrassed to admit if it was MC Hammer!

My bottom five:

Johnny Winter - about 25 years past his prime.

Husker Du - love the band, but the concert was painful.

Joe Satriani - OK, Joe, we get it. You're fast. Sidenote: audience was 99% male.

Black Crowes - a HUGE dissappointment but I still like them.

REM - although the 2nd time I saw them it was WAY better :D

I saw Ozzy two weeks ago (FOR FREE) and he was awful.

Rob Zombie put on a great show but you could tell Ozzy does not have much of a brain left.

  • Well, I've only been to six gigs. :o

I saw some real neo nazi bands play at a skin head show-That was awful.

Alanis Morisette. She was very good but not really my cup of tea.

Smashing Pumpkins-I love them but they weren't very good live. (Not that night anyway). :o
  • The worst professional gig I've been to was Stereophonics at Wembley. Got a free ticket from friends. Absolutely terrible, drummer was all over the place.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

  • I once had to stand through a Marilyn Manson set while waiting for Iron Maiden. Fair enough if you're into his music but he didn't once say anything to try connect with the crowd, he wore a bunch of weird outfits, the musicians were all acting like fools and he was spitting on the people at the front of the pit, like wtf?! :o

Also Paddy Casey at the Point in 2006 (sheesh!)

tell me more about this Paddy Casey dude. He seems to continually get the crap kicked out of him in the Pit. Local lad, I would assume? Poor fit as an opener?

only bad show that comes to mind was the last Stabbing Westward show i attended. not sure of the year.... 2000? anyway, they came on and played almost all of their last album (current album) plus about 3 extra songs and left the stage. i said to my friend, "i hope that was the end of the FIRST set". the returned to the stage for one encore.. and it was a shitty song!

only reason that stands out for me is because the other 3 times i saw them they played forever, this show was about 14 songs. and they were the headliner!

i've seen a lot of really bad local bands over the years but that's another story.

i also saw the 3rd Lilith Fair. i went with girls. that got painfull after a while.
  • 5. Godsmack/Staind (2000)

Do i really need to explain? My brother and his friend took me because they had an extra ticket.

Aaron lewis has absolutely NO stage presense and just stands in the middle of the stage doubled over and holding his stomach the whole time he sings. i guess i shouldn't have expected too much from a fat smoker who sings like Kermit the Frog.

Godsmack headlined and holy jesus do they blow. Every song sounds exactly the same. And they had a bunch of pyro, which was louder than their actual instruments and made them sound quiet as a result. Awful.

    4. Black Sabbath (1999)

Another case of my brother and his friend taking me to a show. They owed me 50 bucks. They had an extra ticket. They asked if it would substitute as payment. i wanted to go just because they had billed it as Black Sabbath's farewell tour and i wanted to say i saw them

Drain STH and Godsmack opened. Godsmack of course sucked. And i actually enjoyed Drain STH. they were fucking awesome.

But Ozzy had the flu and sounded like ass, and Black Sabbath sounded as old and tired as their music actually is. It was boring. And as if it wasn't awful enough that it was boring, Ozzy did his "run around and throw water on people" shtick as if that was going to excite people, and they pulled out some stupid titty cam which captured nothing but 45 year old saggy mother tits no one wanted to see.

    3. The Red Hot Chili Peppers (2000 - Californication tour)
    2. The Red Hot Chili Peppers (2000 - Rolling Rock Town Fair)
    1. The Red Hot Chili Peppers (2007 - Lollapalooza)

Seriously, the RHCP are fucking awful. i don't know why people pay to see them. It's short (90 minutes after a 20 year career?), it's packed with nothing but ballads (from their last 3 shittiest album none-the-less), and Anthony Kiedis is quite possibly the worst frontman/singer i have ever seen/heard in my life. (Yes anthony, jumping around on one foot and doing a bunch of fratboy dance moves are going to make up for the fact that you can't sing)

All they did was ran through the motions every time i saw them. Like they knew "hey, this is show 124 out of 280 we have to do. i'll just pace myself. i'm getting my millions no matter what"

    Fuck those guys.

Yes and yes. He's a sound chap but his music wouldn't be a lot of people's cup of tea... He took the heckling pretty well though and in good spirits, he knew he was out of place. :)

ha! i saw Black Sabbath in 2000 with Pantera opening. Pantera rocked (only 2 songs from Far Beyond Driven and nothing from Trendkill), but Sabbath was BORING! they sounded okay but they gave me nothing in terms of stage presence.

    5. Bad religion/ or verruca salt can't decide between the two- both equally just blah!

I gotta share something with you (and might get lambasted).... anyway, I saw Matchbox 20 RIGHT AFTER they hit it big. It was a good venue (the Joint), cheap ($15) and it was actually a very good show. They pretty much just played their only album, straight through. Next time they came to Vegas it was like an $80 show.

I did hear something pretty intelligent from Rob Thomas... I think they gigged a lot with Seven Mary Three (?) back in Florida (?). Rob gave 7M3 their due and said it was pretty much just business as usual in the record industry that caused MB20 to be huge while 7M3 hardly sold at all (I guess another reason would be differing musical styles and no matinee idol frontman for 7M3 :D)
