Was just wondering if there are any suggestions for a Pixie album(s) to get. Or maybe at least a few songs to get into. Right now all I know is "where is my mind" which is an amazing song. To sum up, what's there best album/songs? Actually, you could tell me there worst as well, that would be interesting... thanks in advance.

doolittle is a good place to start.
"monkey gone to heaven" is a good introduction song."What’s Orphans? I don’t know. Orphans is a dead end kid driving a coffin with big tires across the Ohio River wearing welding goggles and a wife beater with a lit firecracker in his ear." - Tom Waits0 -

Come on Pilgram. I love "caribou". The song, not the arctic-dwelling moose dudes. Actually I just bought the DVD of The Pixies 2004 concert tour. lazy band, but good to hear them again.....0

If you're just getting into them, then you might as well just get the 'Wave Of Mutilation: Best of Pixies' set. It covers their essential material pretty well.
If your averse to hits albums, then start at the beginning with Come On Pilgrim. Some stores carry Come On Pilgrim/Surfer Rosa as a one disc set, so if you can find that, that's a good start.0 -
Awesome! And yes, I am adverse to hits sets. So thanks guys & possibly gals, I think I'm set. Unless there is something I should avoid when it comes to the Pixies.0

Pixies are pretty easy to get into, seeing as they dont have that many releases (4 studio albums, 1 ep, b-sides, live at bbc).
I personally picked up the wave of mutilation: best of, first. Great compilation and from there i bought the others and am now a big fan. So i recomend the best of. its got some weird silverly blob on it with a yellow backround.Like a cloud dropping rain, I'm discarding allllll thought.0 -
Start with Doolittle then get the rest because you'll fall in love with them.
I still don't get why Surfer Rosa gets so much ado.. i mean.. it's great but cmon! The rest of their albums (including the terrific Bossanova) are way better.Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..

I just have wave of mutilation...I guess that's all their good songs. These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.0

"Surfer Rosa" and "Doolittle" are like greatest hits albums...not a weak song on the whole damn thing. The other two albums are kind of half-baked, but still good. The b-sides album is pretty weak but there are a few gems on there...including the single version of "River Euphrates" which smokes the badly-mixed album version.0
