Just saw it for the first time minutes ago.
Have some comments:
Got chills during the solo ed Immortality. Wow. Goosebumps! And during the Come Back that everyone loves, that was great. Chills again.
Found in amazing how open the free the band seemed in this documentary. I like many, have been a fan of the band since 1991, but rarely have I seen any footage of them in non stage forums. So seeing Jeff skating, or Mike hinting at his past, or ed allowing his family to be filmed and actually speak on camera, hearing ed talk about how the setlist comes about 10 minutes before the show, was all pretty crazy and sort of odd. The inclusion of the song Picture in a Frame and to name the DVD that was very revealing as well, because its a song that means a great deal to ed and is more than a mere tom waits cover, if reports of him crying during the song are correct.
What was ed talking about when he talked about how "come back and inside job allowed the crowd to grasp the subtleties"? I was like "what the hell is he talking about?!!" It reminded me of Robert Plant in Song Remains the same, where he talks about "its the cosmic energy, everyone goes 'yeah' - bash". WHat the hell is ed talking about? What subtleties?
Overall its a great DVD, great performances. I liked it.

Oh man, I loved this DVD. Sad for me, though, is that I only got to see it once. Loaned it to a friend and he moved to Bulgaria before giving it back. Go figure.First of all: I am tired. I am true of heart!
And also: You are tired. You are true of heart!

took me so long because I havent been listening to alot of PJ since 2006. I listened to Avocado alot when it came out, and saw my first ever PJ show that year, but I sort of took the whole approach that the album seemed to be suggesting, sort of look within yourself, focus on personal issues, focus on yourself before working on the outside world. And certainly a great thing that the band is active politically. My own politics were shaped in part by the band. But ater 2006 or so I went from being hyper political to being hyper personal, and listening to mostly non political stuff. And as PJ is political they sort of dropped off my playlist.
so thats a long story, but was and is sort of my current thinking. I am much more in line with the Into the Wild songs and sentiments than a political PJ song at the moment. I still love the band but its just tough reimmursing myself in politics after being away from it for 2 years.0 -
I was nice seeing it in the theater.I miss igotid880

In random order here are the things I like about Immagine in Cornice.....
Eddie perfecting his Italian so he can better communicate with the audience......I don't know if many stars do this, but I was very surprised and impressed to see this.
Mike talking to the fans and asking them if they all had what they needed and then telling the story about the Scorpions and him hiding under the limo.
Boom playing the organ in the church.
Jeff skateboarding.
Eddie sweeping the bell tower.
The people that live in Italy (like the older man) talking about Italy.
The beginning song on the DVD.
Eddie and Mike playing that song on the steps. (was that Lukin?)
oh, and my daughter and I really like ,"Bye Bye castles"
I am watching the DVD again. I love it.Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......
Together we will float like angels.........
In the moment that you left the room, the album started skipping, goodbye to beauty shared with the ones that you love.........0 -
i love this dvd!! the performances are all so great..state of love and trust and blood sound so intense and awesome. i thought the stuff with the band outside the concerts was really cool..especially with jeff skating. i also really liked ed and mike jamming to lukin on top of the roof. very cool stuff... i wasn't sure what ed meant either about the subtleties. maybe its something to do with a deeper meaning in the songs or something along those lines. great buy this dvd is!0

Totally love when the old man has Mike in the middle of the road and is telling him about war and human mind. That is a very moving moment of the DVD. It was awesome to hear it from a wise old man from another country. A different view, you know what I mean.

I loved:
Ed playing Immortality
Those Italian kids playing Porch and then it goes right into Evenflow
Ed saying "I've been bastardizing languages all over Europe"
Mike talking about stalking that band (I can't remember) back in '82
Jeff skateboarding
Matt saying "I forgot how much I sing on the new stuff" and then making that face
Ed's daughter
Ed and Mike playing Lukin
How it looked like some of the arenas were built on top of the ruins of old ones
And so many other things I can't think of right nowSometimes life don't leave you alone
