I'm not a big fan of nirvana but they've done great stuff. I don't buy magazines with those things you mentioned but I think the new generation of 12 years grown-ups certainly will. Look around there are a lot of kids wearing t-shirts with the nirvana logo. It's a good thing because if the beginn to listen to nirvana they won't listen to hip hop, trance and sh*t like that. The most of them will listen to good rock music. If one day I have kids i hope they will listen to nirvana and asking me who Nirvana was and not asking me who 50cent's was...(nothing against good hip hop there are a few good artists like Kayne west but i can't stand 50 and his wanna-be-a-gangsters)
Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
    Butt-head: Well, they both suck.
  • Its funny that most of the Nirvana threads around here are from haters or people complaining about them. Surely posting about it only means they're talked about even more. They're like that lump on my balls, if i ignore it, it'll go away!!
I get what you're saying, but I think he was talking about Magazines and such things. There aren't really a lot of Nirvana threads on this forum.

    I can fix that ;)
    I looooove Nirvana!
  • just a guess here, but maybe its because a lot of people still care about nirvana. call them overrated, or whatever you want, but you can't take away their impact. very few bands have that type of impact, just the press is justified.

as with everything else in america, if you don;t want to read about it...don't.

I think it's more that Nirvana is an extremely easy subject to make money with. It's good music which draws in people with taste, but marketable to all walks of hot topic buyers, etc.

Most of the people that make money on these kinds of things don't give a fucking-god-damn about music or integrity.

I know this must have nothing to do with why there is so much Nirvana around but didn't the 15th anniversery of the release of Nevermind cross your mind?

yes... but i was just talking in general. not a month goes by without some magazine doing a "new angle" on the band/kurt
  • I love Nirvana.....

It's 15 years since Nevermind came out, I think you'll find this is why there is a load of coverage at the moment. Uncut's recent article about Nirvana and the grunge scene was really cool, it had some new interviews with Eddie Vedder and Greg Dulli among others.

The thing is there hasn't been a scene like the Seattle scene since, and it was a pretty phenomenal thing for all those bands to have come from one place and for such a culture to have been created. And like it or not, Nirvana were at the forefront of the scene.
  • Let's milk this cow dry before the general public forgets who Nirvana is or that they were even a band! To the printers!
