The Arcade Fire - Funeral

Okay I'm a little behind the times I know since this record came cout in '04, but I picked it up at the same time as avocado, and I pretty much have been listening to one right after the other solidly for the last 48 hours. I realize why so many people had this album on their best of lists that year. Good lord it is brilliant. Every song has such an epic, full feel to it.

Anyone else out there like this band? How is their debut? I saw it at the store too, and as much as I like this one, I'm wondering about picking up more of their catalog.

Their debut EP is worth it just for the song "No Cars Go"

The above statement is true. the ep overall is not great. They are fleshing out their sound.

Funeral is a wonderful album. Glad you picked it up. If you have an opportunity to see them live GO! They are great live.

This might seem like a weird question but is there a booklet in that flimsy little case? Heh, I picked it up at Best Buy thinking about buying it and I felt like I could snap the thing in half. I'm going to pick up this CD when I have a drought in music since I love Power Out(I think that's it) and another of their songs that was made into a video.

It is a great CD. I don't like the casing very much because it scratches pretty easily, in spite of looking very nice. A CD you all should have, for serious.

i'd put funeral in my top 5 albums of all time.... its that good :)

I've played it to death since last year and i'm still not bored of it... blood pumping stuff!!!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Brilliant album, and I've got to agree on the No Cars Go statements my favourite song by them, and guess what? By the end of the year we should have a new album by them to listen to!:):):):):)

Ha, I got a copy of the album the day after the new Pearl Jam, but I haven't had a listen yet. Think I might throw it in tonight.

It's more like a single piece of paper folded in half with a picture of the band and lyrics to all the songs

I agree with the comment about the packaging. I hate those single fold deals with the two pockets, so that you have to basically pull the disc out backwards. It does seem like it would be easy to scratch. Son Volt's Straightaways is another disc that I have with this same packaging. I've had it for years and haven't scratched it though so maybe it's just a paranoia thing.

Since I started this thread last night, I listened to the album twice more today. Had it pumping through my headphones pretty much all afternoon at work. I really like Wake Up. It's one of those songs that I have to repeat at least once as I'm going through the record. It's quite aptly titled- lots o' energy!

Someone mentioned a new album. Anyone know when it's due?

Funeral already has a place in my collection as one of my favourite albums of all time. How will they ever live up to it?
