    I could see it bein a joke. Sarcasm doesnt come across on a computer every time. Definitely not the worst taste, but those are some pretty crazy bands for best shows. Even goin back and readin it, I chuckled a bit.

    I picked the best "era" for those that I've seen multiple times.

    Pearl Jam in 1996
    R.E.M in 1995
    The Flaming Lips in 2000
    Tuatara in 1997
    Guns N' Roses in 1993

    There may be others I prefered but these were the first five that came to mind.

    (Actually all four shows I've seen would fill the list, but Dusseldorf was definitely the best of them)

    Anna Ternheim - 27.09.07, Ringlokschuppen, Bielefeld, Germany - solo acoustic show, really really touching...

    The Mars Volta - 24.02.05, D-Club, Hamburg, Germany - WOW! Only 70 minutes, after they finished, the houselights were put on immediately after...but I was satisfied...WOW!

    The Muffin Men feat. Jimmy Carl Black - 28.11.99, Cadillac, Oldenburg, Germany - One of the greatest Frank Zappa cover-bands with an original (heavy-weighted) member of the Mothers of Invention...I've been a fan since I'm 13, then I was 18 and it was the first time for me rocking to Frank Zappa-live-music...I'm not fond of dancing, but THAT night I DANCED...

    Heinz Rudolf Kunze - 27.05.05, Opernplatz, Hannover, Germany - a free open air-show within the 'Day(s) of the Protestant Church' (Evangelischer Kirchentag) of m favorite german rock-singer...fantastic weather and a really powerful show...and good people...not a worship show, he actually was asked to write a song for this festival, though he's not really a worship rocker.
    When I had to take my way to the station to get my train to Oldenburg he played the last acoustic encore which followed me through the rows of houses up to the station...I could actually hear it clearly til I entered the building, sweaty and lucky...

    Arcade Fire - Vancouver 2005, Last show of the Funeral tour.....wow.

    Pixies - Vancouver, 2004.....not enough bossanova, but it's the damn pixies

    Pearl Jam - Vancouver, 2005. Got tickets the day of the show, great view, amazing setlist.

    Radiohead - Toronto, 2003. Hail to the Thief tour. 2 hrs. + 3 encores, and an amazing karma police.

    Propagandhi, Birmingham, WA, 2005. Amazing punk show from a band I wanted to see for years.

    The Bronx 3x - one of the best live bands I've ever seen. every time was a fight for survival. Reading '07 was mindblowing.

    Nine Inch Nails - Reading '07 also. the best concert I have ever seen. Hurt was heartbreaking. two of my friends who didn't like NIN went out and bought The Downward Spiral immediately.

    Morrissey - Birmingham. can't quite remember when. a year or two ago.

    The Proclaimers - Warwick '05. pre-comic relief :D you'd have to be scottish to understand

    Ryan Adams - Birmingham '06. put on a killer show, got heckled, got pissed off and left in the middle of the last song (which was beautiful, and I never caught the name of it)

    Not including festival shows...

    Pearl Jam at the Astoria 2006
    First time seeing them and the crowd were great. Amazing atmosphere and the band loved it. Plus I love the Astoria which is a big plus.

    Foo Fighters at the Astoria, London 2005
    Again love the venue and the band seemed to unusually enjoy the show. They messed about with the setlist more than they usually do too, they didn't add many rare songs but they played the songs in a really odd order that flowed really well. During the day I went from home to the astoria to pick up my tickets, to Reading festival to set up my tent, and back to london but just missed the support act. I was exhausted so sat on one of those ledges on the walls to watch the last half hour of the show. Watching Aurora I knew I'd remember this gig for the rest of my life. Which is pretty odd considering I've seen foos 11 times now and they're usually going through the motions without much excitement.

    Dave Pajo at the Roadhouse, Manchester 2007
    It was magical. Everyone seemed entranced. I would never say anyone can compare to Elliott Smith... but Pajo came pretty close. He didn't say much and only played 10 songs but everyone was silent throughout the set. Never seen an audience so quiet.

    Seafood at On The Rocks, London 2005
    Was an uber special xmas show for the band. They played through a set that was like 2 hours long, which is double their usual set length. Chatted to the band about this show a few times now and they always say how they think it was probably the best gig they've ever played. I'd agree. Plus the support act were REALLY strange, prancing about in bear masks wrapped up in fake tiger skins...

    The Frames at the Junction, Cambridge 2005
    I saw The Frames a week before in London and thought they were great so went to the cambridge gig too. Was a 300 or so capacity venue that was only half full, was pretty cool (I was front centre). loads of big Irish fans who were so glad to see the band in a tiny venue. The set started similarly to the london show, but Glen talked a lot more to the crowd, even having conversations with people on front row. About halfway through they ripped up the setlist and played loads of random songs which was nice. At the end glen screamed in my face (I don't know why, he seemed to be buzzing) and shook my hand to give me a plec.
    People always say The Frames are a boring band but that gig was electric.
