I think this has taken over as my favourite STP song. I love all the layered guitars and strings.... that rhythm is almost hypnotic, I could listen to this song on reapeat for ages - any other fans?

Loved it from day one. I've always seen it as their best post-Purple song by far.
I am lost, I'm no guide. But I'm by your side...

  • I don't think anything will ever replace Glide or Interstate Love Song as my favourite STP songs. They really were (are?) just a damn good pop band.

it was the first song from No.4 that had me hooked, but now i tend to skip it, there's just so many other great songs on that album. always thought No.4 never got the credit it deserved.

Totally. I hope they manage to get their shit together and write another classic album, they definitely have it in them. Interstate Love Song is definitely well up there, that chorus is absolute genius.

Both of those songs are classics. I really enjoy Sour Girl to this day as well. I'd also like to add Still Remains in there as one of my favs. So many to pick from. I hope, if they do make a new album, that they can grind out some of the same quality......

Great song. Every song mentioned is obviously awesome. Some other great tunes that never get that much mention are Adhesive, Army Ants and Transmissions From a Lonely Room.

Another STP album would obviously be the tits.

Adhesive is fucking epic. And I hate using that term to describe songs, but Adhesive justifies it.

  • Tiny Music was such an inspired come back. They easily could have continued in the grunge vein, but instead they pretty much reinvented themselves - very clever :D

Is it me or is Shangra la de da grossly underated?? A lot of people think that's STPs shit album but I think its full of killer tunes like the groove heavy Regeneration, "grungy" Long Way Home, and the catchy Black Again. Also, I think Bi-Polar Bear is one of their absolute best tunes. A lot of awesome tracks on an album that seems to receive a lot of hate. Just throwing that out there.

And yea Sour Girl is still a great song.

though i have to say, sour girl is a wonderful song. i've always loved it. the music video is so wacky though but so awesome :p i have to say, i never much cared for scott weiland looks-wise, but that video just makes me drool.
and to the op, that video you found, my god, it's chilling. the string just makes it that much more beautiful.

Well, sure, they're a rock band - Core, Purple and No.4 are mostly hard rock albums, after all. But they're also a pop band - songs like Interstate, Sour Girl, Lady Picture Show are some of the best pop songs of the 90s. And you could make a damn good case for them being a better pop band than rock band.

TM is amazing. Great transformation on this album.

SLDD is also the shit. Its a little all over the place but I think it has some of their strongest work. I once heard it described as "their No Code".

The only reason I didn't mention Atlanta before is because I don't think its underrated. Its amazing and I think most people recognize that.

Really? I never hear people talk about Atlanta. I love that song. It's a crime that it didn't make Thank You.

Over on the STP board, and in quite a few articles I have read it gets much love.

You're right though, it is a crime it didn't make Thank You, although it is on the DVD.

I would have to say that too. Plush is probably my all time fav STP song, if I had to choose. Classic riff that will never get old.
