any list that doesnt have pete townshend in the top 10 is bs
And he still gives his love, he just gives it away, The love he receives is the love that is saved, And sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky, A human being that was given to fly

Pete had his own style, but he is far from what you call a great guitarist.

I usually wont even comment on these lists but I have to say that any greatest 50 ,nevermind 200, guitar lists without Derek Trucks is an absolute joke. 90% of the guys in the top 20 couldn't compete with him. Also Rich Robinson isn't mentioned and that is another absolute joke.

I remember standing in line for a gig once and overheard someone saying that Tom Morello is the best guitarist ever.

    I chuckled to myself...

They must have not know their own criteria. Jimmy Page's influence alone puts him at # 2. The rest puts him up to #1.

  • Okay, it's only a list, and it's an interesting list, but....

    Frank Zappa at #54 ???

    Really?

Looking at some of the people listed above him, I am puzzled.

And where is D. Boon of The Minutemen? And no Ry Cooder???

Some words when spoken...Can't be taken back...
  • No list is ever going to satisfy everyone but the biggest oversight in my opinion is seeing Jerry Garcia at 44. I am not going to be "that guy" and claim top 5 or anything but at least top 10-15? Some of his solo/side project music is just as good if not better than his huge body of work with the Dead. Anybody agree/disagree?
