okay i am learning jimi hendrix voodoo child for my gcse practical:D and i was wondering if any of you guys have any tips on playing it (if you can that is)
And if anyone just randomly wants to say something, your very much welcome to.

    this would probably be a better post in "Musicians" section of the bored, I know how to play it, but I think if i give you tips on how I do it would be sub par to what the guys in that forum can help you out with

    You got to have demons to get it right.

    How's your coordination? Are you playing it with the wah intro?

    It's about rythm, not precision. As long as you can keep the groove going your ok. Playing the licks exactly as he did, is not the point. Keep it funky. As much as I like SRV, I don't like his version of Voodoo Chile. Too clinical.

    Also listen to a lot of early Muddy Waters to hear where Jimi was coming from.

    my co-ordination is great. and i cant do the wah intro properly because i havnt got a wah pedal! but i use auto wah on my multi effects pedal.

    Listen around Hendrix. Listen to some early John Lee Hooker. Get the feel of swamp blues and boogie in E.

    I agree. He's too "on" the beat. One needs to syncopate a bit, to master that funk.
