Have they ever been on stage together? I love Adam, but think he might be borderline crazy :p.

“I know that when I heard the Buzzcocks on a Toyota ad, I wasn’t particularly upset. I mean, the initial reaction was shock; at the same time, it’s a good song and I know they haven’t sold a million records. But I feel like maybe a band like the Counting Crows in a Coke commercial, they should know that Coke’s been marketing to children and striking deals with the schools to get pop machines and advertising in the schools. I just wouldn’t want to participate in anything like that.”

That isn't quite the same thing.

But I think it is funny how Eddie bashes everyone who wants to make a dime, but defends his buddy Pete left and right. I personally don't care if artists sell their songs, but don't be a hypocrite.

The biggest irony would be if the Coca Cola book story is true. Yeah, coke has a long history of horrible employment practices, but Eddie, Mr "go-green. love the environment" doesn't call out the Who for selling "Happy Jack" for a freaking HUMMER commercial.

Your heroes always get a pass.

then yeah, Ed's a douche. CC haven't come close to selling the amount of records that the Who, Cash, Dylan, or the Rolling Stones have sold, so where's his condemnation for all the shit that they allowed thier songs to be used for? and since he seems to care so much about children that he doesn't want Coke marketing to them, how does he feel about Pete's "investigations" into kiddie porn?

Didn't Ed say in a recent interview that he's kind of changed his mind on these things? I'm sure he said he was initially disappointed in a friend's band for allowing one of their songs to be used in a commercial, but when he realised they only did it so one band member could pay for hospital treatment for a relative, it kind of put things into perspective.

Your heroes always get a pass, as I said earlier.

And Pete's kiddie porn thing turned out to be nothing. So there's no need to bring that into the discussion.

Ed is a hero of mine, and I don't give him a pass for stupid things he says and does. if he's going to give his personal heroes a pass, then he should have kept his mouth shut about Duritz. what's that saying: what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

if Pete Townsend the World Famous Musician were Pete Townsend the Ditch Digger, then that kiddie porn thing wouldn't have disappeared so quietly.

If he wasn't Pete Townshend the famous musician, millions of people wouldn't have heard about it in the first place. The "fame" thing goes both ways.
