Does anyone know of any good Spanish language rock groups/artists? I only know of some really poppy groups (such as Pereza) which are fun and all but was maybe looking for something more. Any suggestions?

The one you should check is a rock band from Argentina called Soda Stereo, they reunited to make a tour the last months of year 2007. Best album in my personal opinion is Dinamo. Frontman Gustavo Cerati also has released 5 solo albums which are good too, specially the first 2 (Amor Amarillo and Bocanada)0

There are also some great rock fusion bands like Todos Tus Muertos and Lumumba, if you have heard and Manu Chao and you enjoyed it you should check Mano Negra's (which was an earlier proyect and which i personally found much more interesting) "Casa Babylon". Los Fabulosos Cadillacs is also a great rock band.0

Extremoduro
Marea0 -
Ely Guerra - rock, pop and trip-hoppy, classy fuckin' mare.
Julieta Venegas - Bueninvento, a classic!
Javier Corcobado - Nick Cave-ish.
Belanova - poppy synth band, nothing too deep but catchy upbeat.
Los Tres - jazz-rock group from Chile, not sure I like the singer's sound too much but the instrumentals are cool.0 -
well if you want to listen good music.....listen some old argentinians bands like:
abuelos de la nada
serugiran

The Mars Volta spends about 50% of their time gliding through the spanish language. Although I hardly doubt it makes more sense then their english free verse.Sorry... i got nothing witty to say in the time allotted to me.0

Some of the 60s/early 70s tropicalia music is in spanish although most is in portuguese, since it was a brazilian movement. It's almost all brilliant and worth checking out though and a good deal IS in spanish.
Try Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes and Tom Zé"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

Your list about brazilian movement is great (even Gal). And you have Jorge Mautner too..And, after them, you have Cassia Eller, Cazuza and Legião Urbana.
In Spanish, i like Maná, Orishas, Fito Paez e Los Abuelos de la Nada. And love few songs that Santana recorded in spanish.
And like very much the form that Gotam Project has giving to tango with electronic elements.0 -

Of the big names Veloso's the one I prefer, though at times he's a bit camp sounding.0 -

CAFE TACVBA!!!
WTF!?!!? Why hasn't anybody mentioned these guys. They are by far the most important/influential spanish rock band ever.Down in the hole, Jesus tries to crack a smile beneath another shovel load.0 -

Cafe Tacuba is good, they make a great live show, but in my honest opinion they are far from being the most influential band as someone else mentioned0

Definitely Café Tacuba and Soda Stereo for sure!
You should also check out a band from Barcelona called... Ojos de Brujo...not really rock but more of a mix of good hip hop and flamenco."All the strength that you might think would disappear, resolving..."0 -
