Dropkick Murphys - Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced

    QFT

I play in a band, we're the best in the land
We're big in both Chelsea and France
I play one mean guitar and then score at the bar
There's a line of chicks waiting for their chance
So come on now honey, I'll make you feel pretty
These other gals mean nothing to me
Let's finish these drinks and be gone for the night
'Cause I'm more than a handful, you'll see

    So kiss me, I'm shitfaced
I'm soaked, I'm soiled and brown
in the trousers, she kissed me
And I only bought her one round

I can bench press a car, I'm an ex football star
with degrees from both Harvard and Yale
Girls just can't keep up, I'm a real love machine
I've had far better sex while in jail
I've designed the Sears Tower, I make two grand an hour
I cook the world's best duck flambe
I'll take the pick of the litter, girls jockey for me
I don't need these lines to get laid

    So kiss me, I'm shitfaced
I'm soaked, I'm soiled and brown
in the trousers, she kissed me
And I only bought her one round

I'm a man of the night, a real ladies delight
See my figure was chiseled from stone
One more for the gal then I'll escort her home
Come last call, I'm never alone
I've a house on the hill with a red water bed
That puts Hugh Heffnor's mansion to shame
With girls by the pool and Italian sports cars
I'm just here in this dump for the game

    So kiss me, I'm shitfaced
I'm soaked, I'm soiled and brown
in the trousers, she kissed me
And I only bought her one round

    So kiss me, I'm shitfaced
I'm soaked, I'm soiled and brown
in the trousers, she kissed me
And I only bought her one round

Ahh, fuck it. Who am I shitting?

I'm a pitiful sight, and I ain't all that bright
I'm definitely not chiseled from stone
    I'm a cheat and a liar, no woman's desire
I'll probably die cold and alone

But just give me a chance, 'cause deep down inside
I swear I got a big heart of gold
I'm a monogamous man, no more one night stands
Come on, honey, let me take you home

    So kiss me, I'm shitfaced
I'm soaked, I'm soiled and brown
in the trousers, she kissed me
And I only bought her one round

The greatest drinking song of all time is "Home For a Rest" by Spirit of the West. Nothing else even comes close:

"You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month, I've been drunk since I left
These so-called vacations will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink I need home for a rest.

We arrived in December and London was cold
We stayed in the bars along Charing Cross Road
We never saw nothin' but brass taps and oak
Kept a shine on the bar with the sleeves of our coats

    CHORUS:
You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a week
I've been drunk since I left
    And these so-called vacations
    Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
    Take me home....

Euston Station the train journey North
In the buffet car we lurched back and forth
Past old crooked dykes through Yorkshire's green fields
We were flung into dance as the train jigged and reeled

    - CHORUS -

By the light of the moon, she'd drift through the streets
A rare old perfume, so seductive and sweet
She'd tease us and flirt, as the pubs all closed down
Then walk us on home and deny us a round

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left
    And these so-called vacations
    Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
    Take me home....

The gas heater's empty, it's damp as a tomb
The spirits we drank now ghosts in the room
I'm knackered again, come on sleep take me soon
And don't lift up my head 'till the the twelve bells at noon

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left
    And these so-called vacations
    Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
    Take me home...."

That's the one! Hands down. Just thinking of this song makes me thirsty.
E agora? Faz xixi na mão e deita fora!

Most of the Pogues catalog would fit nicely. Their lead singer, Shane MacGowan has been known to have a drink now and then.

Thousands are Sailing, White City, Whiskey in the Jar, Whiskey You're the Devil, Dirty Old Town, Fairytale of New York, If I Should Fall From Grace with God, The Irish Rovers.

    And that's only a start...

    Others?

One Scotch, One Burbon, One Beer - John Lee Hooker
Too Drunk to F**k - Dead Kennedys
Dead, Drunk, & Naked - Drive By Truckers (who have a great drinking catalog too)
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

    Have A Drink On Me - AC/DC
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

The Urge- we're going to the liquor store (not sure if that's the title but it's repeated throughout the song and i'm too lazy to dig the cd out)
    Seems the more you make

I've always been a fan of OAR for drinking. I just got a Shins album, the one with So says I on it and that seems to be decent drinking music.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

  • How has nobody mentioned "Beer" By Reel Big Fish. It was in Baseketball for Christ's sake.

She called me late last night
To say she loved me so
    It didn't matter anymore,
    I'll say she never cared
    And that she never will
    I'd do it all again
I guess I'll have to wait until then

    [CHORUS]
    If I get drunk well
I'll pass out on the floor now baby,
You won't bother me no more,
    And if you're drinkin' well
You know that you're my friend
And I say I think I'll have myself a beer.

    [VERSE]
She called me late last night
To say she loved me, so
But I guess You changed your mind.
Well I should have known it wouldn't be all right
But I can't live without her
    So I won't even try...

    [CHORUS]

    [VERSE]
Maybe some day, I'll think of what to say,
Maybe next time I'll remember what to do! (do, do, do)
She looks like heaven, maybe this is hell,
Said she'd do it all again
    She'd promise not to tell!

    If I get drunk well,
I'll pass out on the floor now baby
You won't bother me no more
(and she said) It's OK boy cause
You know we'll be good friends and I say
    I think I'll have myself a beer
    I think I'll have myself a
    Woaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhh oh
    Woaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhh oh
    Woaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhh oh
    Yeah Yeah Yeah!
    Oooh oooh Oooh!

    great choice.

    I'd also recommend:

    Beer Run - Todd Snider

...also, if you are compiling songs to literally drink to, you gotta have this one. As one might think, you have to toast every "Here's To".

The Call - Let The Day Begin

Here's to the babies in a brand new world
Here's to the beauty of the stars
Here's to the travellers on the open road
Here's to the dreamers in the bars

Here's to the teachers in the crowded rooms
Here's to the workers in the fields
Here's to the preachers of the sacred words
Here's to the drivers at the wheel

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
    Now let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin, let the day begin

Here's to the winners of the human race
Here's to the losers in the game
Here's to the soldiers of the bitter war
Here's to the wall that bears their names

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
    Now let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Let the day begin, let the day begin, let the day start

Here's to the doctors and their healing work
Here's to the loved ones in their care
Here's to the strangers on the streets tonight
    Here's to the lonely everywhere

Here's to the wisdom from the mouths of babes
Here's to the lions in the cage
Here's to the struggles of the silent war
Here's to the closing of the age.

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
    Now let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
    Let the day begin

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
    Let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin, let the day begin, let the day start
