I don't think it's a poser list. If you would've had the Arcade Fire on there, then yes it would've been
NERDS!0 -
yeah. that's cause i consider them like a follower of the flaming lips.... i chose my albums wisely... the lead singer does the whole flaming lips vocals and besides they're better... but why would anyone call it poser... it doesn't even make sense....South of Seattle wrote:I don't think it's a poser list. obviously you wrote this tongue in cheek, but just in case, arcade fire are a great band dude. there's a lot of arcade fire pushers for the simple reason that their disks are worth spinning.Athens, Greece: 2006/09/30

ok, well, i hope so... cause people can sometimes be pricks for no reason... i had other bands that i wanted to include on there... like pearl jam, bob dylan, george harrison, broken social scene, nirvana's bleach (yes, i like this album better from all of theirs) black rebel motorcycle club, pink floyd, the doors and led zeppelin.... i guess these are for the next top ten...glasshouse wrote:the guys are just tossing with you mate. that is a pretty hipster list you've got over there! good tunes, good music.

the thing about radiohead... i guess i'm different from most but i personally like what they did in kid a... it has such a dreamy sound and very hypnotic... i love music like that. i wish they pulled off another album like it... well, they kinda did with amnesiac but not as affective. i do love ok computer though... my favorite i think is the tourist...or let down... or paranoid android. i dunno
and also yoshimi has the same dreamy, futuristic sound... unlike soft bulletin or at war with the mystics... i've argued with myself trying to figure what my favorite is and i agreed that it was yoshimi because of that distinct dreamy sound. fair enough. i think i even prefer amnesiac to kid a. and don't get me wrong i love kid a......says a lot about how much i adore amnesiac and ok computer.
i love yoshimi, but the soft bulletin just grabs be by the short and curly
but, bottom line.....pearl jam rules my melodic universe without interferenceAthens, Greece: 2006/09/30

also... i recommend you getting a copy of cuatro caminos by cafe tacuba... just give it a listen... it's spanish but listen to it a few times. the first times listening to it are the best times... and i envy everyone who hasn't heard it. it's a really great underrated album... it actually was ahead of radiohead's hail to the thief back in 2003 as the best albums of the year in blender magazine. once you listen to it... you might not get into it... just like me... you'll probably ignore it... but listen to it about 2 or 3x... then after that... while you're not listening to it the sounds will still be roaming in your head. that's exactly what happened to me and by the time you know it you'll wanna hear it over and over and over and over... not unless you really hate it, then that's understandable...glasshouse wrote:obviously you wrote this tongue in cheek, but just in case, arcade fire are a great band dude. there's a lot of arcade fire pushers for the simple reason that their disks are worth spinning.
take it from me a pearl jam fan who loves great music

my favorite pearl jam album is yield... then vs... but yield was actually the first album i owned... i was 16. it's the album that single-handedly got me into rock altogether. that's why it's on my no. 11 listglasshouse wrote:fair enough. i think i even prefer amnesiac to kid a. and don't get me wrong i love kid a......says a lot about how much i adore amnesiac and ok computer.

dude, that is so awesome - yield changed everything for me as well! that is the one disk that really gave music another meaning in my life. given to fly ripped my soul out the first time i heard it, and i still believe do the evolution is one of the most rocking songs of all timeAthens, Greece: 2006/09/30

yeah... do the evolution kicks ass... i think the same of it too... it should be considered a rock classic along with songs like, "stairway to heaven" or "we will rock you" and i'm serious too. songs that really stayed in me from yield were "brain of j" "faithful" "in hiding" "mfc" god.... i had never heard such great songs at that time.glasshouse wrote:dude, that is so awesome - yield changed everything for me as well! that is the one disk that really gave music another meaning in my life. given to fly ripped my soul out the first time i heard it, and i still believe do the evolution is one of the most rocking songs of all timeThis isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0 -

the only song on yield i don't love is mfc - i just don'y gel with that song. no fluency at all in that one for me. weird, i know a lot of pearl jam die hards love that song.Athens, Greece: 2006/09/30

yeah, just one of those things... a lot of people seem to love present tense... i hate taht song. i also hate habit... it gets on my nerves. also spin the black circle... i know great die hard pj fans would stone me for that. don't forget to listen to cuatro caminos by cafe tacuba... then lemme know what you think... pm me or somethingglasshouse wrote:the only song on yield i don't love is mfc - i just don'y gel with that song. no fluency at all in that one for me. weird, i know a lot of pearl jam die hards love that song. This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0 -

It's only tongue in cheek because there are so many AF lovers on here. I have an open mind with music, I've listened to their stuff and it does nothing for me.

1) Soundgarden - Superunknown.(Nothing i've ever heard comes remotely close to this)
2) Pearl Jam - Vitalogy.(Their greatest hour. Not neccessarily their best songs but as a 'moodsetter' and a work of art its their creative peak).
3) Brother Cane - Seeds.(Probably the most underrated rock band of the nineties. Not one bad song on this album).
4) Nick Cave - Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus.(I have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it but when i do it takes me to another world)
5) Nirvana - Nevermind.(I hate it when rock purists try to make out that its successor is better. The bottom line is that this is Nirvana's strongest set of material.)
6) QOTSA - Rated R.(The epitome of cool. The sound of a bunch of 'jocks' having a blast in the desert...in a none-gay way!)
7) Jeff Buckley - Grace.(A real piece of beauty. A 'genuine' songwriter.)
8) Hater - 2nd.(I can't explain it but despite the shit production this album keeps getting repeated plays. Its really quirky and odd...very addictive.)
9)Jimi Hendrix - Axis Bold As love(Not as immediate as its predecessor or as sprawling as 'Electric' but Hendrix is on fire here).
10)QOTSA -Era Vulgaris(How much better does this sound after repeated listens? I currently play this everyday)."That f***ing guy makes me wanna puke, sending a statue of himself on tour: what the f*** is all that about? What a f***ing jerk. You know what I hope? I hope he's buggering Lisa Marie! Shit, that asshole Elvis must be rolling in his grave, F***er."
