Don't care what anyone says. Vs and Ten were the albums that got me INTO Pearl Jam; Yield and No Code were the albums that got me OUT OF Pearl Jam -- and rock music altogether.

I can't go through the whole list, but rating just based on studio album, it's Vitalogy by a mile. Definitely the most complete album they've put out, and they really stretched themselves artistically to make it imo. After that album, there hasn't been one quite as unique and complete. Binaural comes relatively close, but I don't think it matches the lyrics or mood on Vitalogy. I think 10-20 years from now when kids get into Pearl Jam, they'll point to Vitalogy like we point to Zoso or something like that.

However, my favs are still Ten and Vs., but for different reasons.

Thats probably cos you like Def Leppard and Motley Crue!Fine but entirely 1 dimensional and neither in the same category or indeed league IMO.

I like all of the VS songs live, but I can't listen to the album for some reason. Pearl Jam should be higher, but Come Back is a huge anchor that pulls that great album.

    1. Binaural (Gods' Dice is late 70's Aerosmith - beautifully chaotic and sloppy)
    2. No Code (unpredictable album - a lot of fearless choices by the band here.)
    3. Ten (too polished now - but try to find a better SIDE 1 to any album.)
    4. VS. (a bit too earnest - but I dare you to try staying calm when the riff of Go kicks in.)
    5. Vitalogy (Satan's Bed alone keeps it top 5 - its live version from the State College bootleg (PENN State 5-3-03) is required listening for any PJ fan, honest.)
    6. Avocado (No "comeback" album was necessary - those of us here know they'd never left - but Life Wasted erased any doubt.)
    7. Yield (Present Test - No Way -Brain J - we all want to hear these more at the shows, don't we?)
    8. Riot Act

For me...Vitalogy was what just made me the over the top fan. I connected on that album on so many levels. It just fit my life at that time. I knew at that point there was no looking back. And then they put out No Code and it was just beautiful. Yield is amazing. I will always love Ten but I have had enough of it for a while. Avacado is great . Binaural and Riot Act are well put together but if I had my choice they would be my last.
