Just wanted to know if there are any IRON MAIDEN fans out there. They are my 2nd fav band after PJ, they have been together (well they did break up briefly in the late 90's) for a long time. I have seen them since 1985, and just joined the fan club. Hoping to head to Europe over the winter to catch a few shows there.

Any PJ fans who love MAIDEN? Who LOVE Ed(Vedder AND Maiden's mascot?)
And Bruce Dickinson is an amazing human being. Fencer, genius, human sound system with his voice...lol...

fuck yes. Maiden is the greatest metal band of all time. As far as I'm concerned, Metallica and Black Sabbath and Ozzy shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. No one can hit notes like Bruce. I can't wait for the new album. However, I am a little dissapointed with their fanclub. I joined a while ago and have never received the autographed 8 x 10 photo members are promised. But none the less Maiden = Greatest Metal Band Ever.

  • It's tough to say Maiden is the best metal band ever, because there are so many styles of guitar and voice in metal. Yet, they are one of my faves, and as far as precision multi-guitar attack goes, the only band even close is Judas Priest with K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton. Thin Lizzy was the first hard rock band to really perfect the speed twin guitar attack, and Maiden have taken it to a new level. My friends and I have always thought that Maiden's beat is very equestrian- meaning you could picture yourself riding a speeding thoroughbred to the music. It's a bouncy beat with screeching precision guitar assaults, and the bassist is one of the best out there. Unfortunately, MN has very few adequate outdoor venues, so they don't play much here anymore as they prefer outdoor ampitheaters that hold up to 100,000, kind of like the Dead.

  • One last tidbit on the Maiden/PJ tip. During the "live at the garden" DVD, there's a moment when Ed says the stage had only shook like that for 3 bands (one of them Maiden), then McReady busts into the opening riff for "number of the beast", spot on, of course. I was so disapointed, I'd love to see them do a Maiden cover.

PROUD Maiden fan since I was 3 years old...my brother taught me well! They are one of the BEST metal bands around, next to Judas Priest of course;)

LOL about the Live @ the Garden bit, I was there at that show, and I thought seriously that they would play Number of the Beast...I was ready to get my metal ON!! :D

I love Maiden. Up there as one of the better Metal bands of all time for sure. Powerslave, NotB, Killers, Piece of Mind, and plenty more where that came from, damn there are so many absolutely face-melting albums by these guys. Who can pull off the triple-guitar threat like these guys anyway? Pure rock genius, love Rock in Rio and Steve Harris is too good to be alive. Bye.

I agree. there is NO other band that can pull that 3 guitar harmony like Maiden does. :) How about To Tame A Land....the guitar work on that is AMAZING! Both Adrian and Dave are musical soulmates!

My first Maiden experience was "The Beast on the Road Tour." I've been hooked ever since!

yeah I like Iron Maiden. :D haven't listened to it for a while though cause it brings back not-so-fun memories..
I've got only two CD's Number of the Beast and Edward the Great. I also have the Infinite Dreams single (?).

don't know if you can call me a 'fan' but I do enjoy IM's music. Bruce Dickinson has an awesome voice! :D

Oh yeah. Powerslave was my first concert and I also saw the Seventh Son tour. I like most of their stuff but Somewhere in Time is probably my favorite.

I like Maidon....the hubby had a part in that and Number of the Beast! It's funny we have a poster of Eddie in our basement in the laundry rm and our 5yr old is scared on him.

Got a cool pic while in Toronto for PJ from the Hard Rock of one of Bruces swords.

Don't get it,I'm sorry to say.I am surprised how many people really like IM and PJ as they are so diametrically opposed in almost every way, besides maybe both being Rock bands. All about show and image/theatrics and very little about music for me.I mean if you need to drag a giant cartoon zombie on stage to bolster the show then say no more!Nothing more than Cheesy,Generic,Formulaic, predictable POO with no soul whatsoever!!By the way I don't like IM much at all.
