yea, yea, yea...it's a contrived BS holiday...one shouldn't need a hallmark holiday to express their love and blah, blah, blah. now that that is out of the way ;).....what are your plans?

we're not doing anything outside of the ordinary of our usual saturday night. going to dinner at our fave italian place. sure, cards....but no gifts! although, perhaps a decadent chocolate dessert. 8-)

anyone doing anything fun or unusual?

Going to a baby shower. I think it's a very sweet way to spend V-day. :D

    that is kinda cute! :)

i usually can't stand bridal or baby showers...but for Vday, might be very sweet! enjoy!

it IS nice it's on a saturday this year, i expect restaurants and movie theatres, etc, to be extra-packed, even moreso than if it was merely the holiday, or a saturday night.

We are going to a jazz concert on the 12th. Then a friend of mine is visiting for the weekend and it looks like the only day when she and I will be able to enjoy each other's company kids free is Valentine's day! Any suggestion on a nice place to take her in Manhattan that won't have lovers' menu and where we can chat for hours?
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

hahahaha...man, i doubt you can escape that!
wasn't there some chick flick in which two friends went out on Vday since they were both solo, and the waitress mistook them for lesbians? :P in all seriousness, you probably can't escape the Vday menus anywhere...but i am sure you can go just about anywhere and chat for hours, no worries on that front.

    jazz concert sounds cool. 8-)

amentschick.....a fellow pj freak? well then, baby shower or no, Vday or no...sure to be a great time!

Nothing really planned--never have on this day and it works for us. however, we may be home alone so that could be good!!!

My son, 18, has his 1st girlfriend and she wants just one of these: The_Perfect_Rainbow_Rose_by_HappyRoses.jpg but they are hard to find!!! (it's a rainbow rose and some people like them and some think they are ugly (according to my internet research!!!). I am sure he will take her to dinner too but on Friday--he has to wash dishes on Sat. at his job!!
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me

p.s. i wonder what the odds of finding a nice, single man at the theater on valentine's day are?

hit the sunday matinee.... was actually surprised at the younger kids in the audience as well as the total lack of respect for the no camera/cell phones policy at the end of the show.

ah, we went friday night. it was a pretty good audience, other than the people around me singing along. for pearl jam i'd have it no other way...not so much for rent. :)
  • well we're broke at the mo :D so gonna be going out Friday night instead to avoid high prices (and yes... cos I forgot to book  even though I insisted I'd do it :? and now it's too late to find anywhere that isn't mcdonalds) so yep, out Friday night... Saturday RUGBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY :mrgreen: and I'm sure more than a fair share of wine (I genuinely can't think of a better way to celebrate v day than watching rugby  I met my ex AT a match and I loved telling people that story cos, to me, it was the most romantic thing I'd ever heard  and we even got to tell a couple of the players about it)

Oh dear, yep, I know I'm obsessed, lol.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you
