Is there any quality loss by burning FLAC's to audio CD?

The reason I ask is:

1) It's always good to have a good audio CD as backup for any music, as you can play them anywhere

2) I want to rip from the CD and great high quality (256kbps) mp3's for the fanchPod

So, if I do this, will I lose any of the quality of the FLACs when I burn to audio CD? I realize there is some loss when I go from audio CD to mp3, but since I rip at 256 that shouldn't be a huge deal.

Any takers?

I skip the whole .wav thing with Winamp, as it burns FLAC's directly to audio CD.

Perhaps Winamp converts to .wav, and then burns to CD, and this process is invisible to the Winamp user?

ah winamp....i don't use it personally but the process is the same so you're jiggy.....:)
  • Burning the flac to cd is grand and you won't lose any sound quality.

Supposing you were to rip new flacs from this audio cd. It's possible that there would some very minor errors compared to the original flacs. This would be negligible really.

You could extract mp3 at 256kbps directly from the flac you know.
I'm not sure about the software but it should be easy to get.
