  • Just one of those momentous days in your life where you have hope in humanity and positive views of the future.

I am sure it won't last long, but isn't it nice while it lasts!

It's like driving home after an awesome first date :D

This is real life not a fairy tale. Its only going to get worse. Its just how it is. When all the nations of the world get rid of WMD of all that then I might say the same thing. Things havent gotten better, and with Obama in office I dont think it will get any better.
    I'll be back
  • his campaign and win have already brought positive changes. people voted in record numbers, people got involved with campaigning at all levels. people feel like their vote matters. people FINALLY have a sense of HOPE.
i'd say that IS positive change !!!!!!

to all the people who got involved in any way, thank you!!!

    it IS!
however, i want to hope that it is merely the START....and we will see FAR more POSITIVEs arise from this election. :)

    hope. hope is the underdog.

    not anymore!
    :D

enjoy today all...and keep the hope alive for tomorrow and beyond, i think we finally have good reason for hope!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

I haven't been able to be happy yet about this (or anything for that matter). Give me a week or two then I will feel excited the way I should be feeling now.

BD that's cute that you are so excited!

    What does it mean? :)

    What does it mean? :)

it means an end to 8 years of bush... it means a black american guy has become president in a country where the KLu Klux Klan still exist... it means that the 1960's were genuinely important.... surely you must 'realise' the importance of that?

Yep. And I remember feeling it in '97 when labour got in. I felt that my world was going to be a better place from then on, and look where we are now

    Still, hope springs eternal :)

about 2 years after Labour got in that time I made the decision never ever to pay any attention to any politician or political party. I'd had my old man going on all my life about how great things were under Labour, yet it made no diff to me at all. I decided then to stop wasting energy on any of the tossers, and look after number one...a working man needs to make a buck whoever the hell is in charge, spend more energy on working and positivity, than bleating and worrying about what those pampered ponces yakk on about.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Yeah.. I think it's awesome that he broke those barriers, but that's not why I voted for him. I'm more concerned on what he can do for our economy. Personally I can care less that the rest of the world thinks we made the right choice.. I just want to see some positive results.

This is what I mean, Trailer. What about the people?

dunk, I'm afraid to say you pretty much fell right into my trap, bud. When it comes to politics, it's always about the result, not the promise or charisma. He could be the biggest hope in the world, right time, right place but when he makes a difference to everyone's lives, then I will get excited.

We're all hoping for results...and sure Obama will lead the charge - but he's gonna need cooperation to get those results...and as a community organizer that's one thing he knows how to do well. Every politician has got their agenda - and sometimes those agendas don't even differ that much - it's the ability to get the agenda moved through that gets things done. You gotta have hope to get results - to even DREAM of the possible results you gotta have hope - and today I've got that :)

Well Braveheart is one of my favorite movies.. so I guess I do care what the descendants of William Wallace think.
Some people say that movie is historically inaccurate.. but I think that's just British propaganda.

So you're partially right.. I don't care what the rest of the world thinks, unless their country has had a movie made about them by Mel Gibson.:D

    Yeah, me too.
Politics aside, I think this is a monumental achievement for America that EVERYONE can be proud of that we've gotten this far.

But once he sworns in, he better make GOOD changes and NOT fuck things up like his predecessor. ;)

He is stepping into a total shit storm of converging crises. Despite the positive changes he will hopefully bring to the table, he isn't going to be able to walk away without getting some on himself.

I don't expect things to get better in his first year.

But I'm really enjoying the positive energy that many Americans and people around the world are feeling right now. :)

    good answers ;)

although when Braveheart came out, nobody thought Mel Gibson could play a Scot. But look at him now, an alcoholic racist!
