    Happy Birthday to the Bard!
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

If I was still at school I'd be taking part in the Stratford-upon-Avon birthday parade today because I went to Shakespeare's school

It's actually very dull. Being surrounded by it really makes you lose interest.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

Also said to have died on April 23 in addition to his birthday being observed today as well. I recall his birthday is less than certain. Nonetheless a tankard of mead to the bard!

Having grown up in Southern California, I feel the same way about Disneyland, Hollywood, and gang violence.

You went to the same school as the Bard; I attended the same high school as the creator of the A-Team, Stephen J. Cannell.

At least when you lose interest in something you're within spitting distance of John Donne, Dylan Thomas, and Eric Idle.

I come from a land that considers Danny Bonaduce and Steve Guttenberg to be stars.

I still love Shakespeare's work, hell I have to. I am doing a degree in english lit. Shakespeare is my bread and butter. I just have no time for any of the other crap now. Stratford-upon-avon is the most boring place in the world for a non-tourist and yet it milks the Shakespeare connection to within an inch of death. It starts to grate on you after a few years :) When people start coming up to you and saying "oh wowww, you guys go to Billy Shakespeare's high school? oh geez, can we get a photograph of you all in your uniforms to take back to Minnesota?", it starts to become less a matter of pride in your heritage and more long-suffering annoyance :D
