Do you cook dinner from scratch? Heat something up in the microwave? Go out to a restaurant for dinner? Eat at the table or in front of the TV? What does everybody do for dinner?
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

  • All of the above... although I get the MOST pleasure when I cook something from scratch :o haven't done that in a while... even using jars and stuff, it may be nice but when someone tells me it's really nice, I've cheated and can't take the same pleasure.

I need more recipes for cooking easy stuff from scratch :o
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you
  • I don't trust microwaves at ALL and would rather never use them... but then sometimes I get lazy :o but then I really get no pleasure from it :o

I cooked every day last week though :)

  • Usually try to cook from scratch if I have enough time and never eat at the table as we don't have one.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.
  • I don't get home in time for Dinner with my wife and kids. They eat at 5:30, and I don't usually get home until 6:30-7.

On Saturdays and Sundays - I cook my family dinner from scratch and we sit at the table with no TV and talk about the week.

During the week - I microwave whatever was left over

Last night I setup a "Make your own burrito" night at my fiance's apartment for her and 2 of her roommates.

Choice of beef with chipotle seasoning, or plain chicken.

Accompaniments included: heated black beans, sauteed onions, green chiles, stewed chipotle peppers, jalapenos, sour cream, shredded lettuce, Sargento Mexican cheese & Tabasco sauce.

Then my fiance made red potatoes/brussel sprouts/cauliflower with a little bit of olive oil, Thyme and salt, roasted in the oven for 45 mins.

Add a little beer and vino...

    T'was freaking good.

  • I like to cook from scratch but I don't often get time. We've had 'proper' dinners recently because we haven't been chasing around as much. Sunday we had a full beef roast dinner from scratch! :D
I have worked as a chef so microwaves are the enemy. I love cooking everything on the hob :)

Tonight we have chicken burgers and potato wedges... courtesy of Tescos :o
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

And don't gimme that 'I don't have time to cook from scratch' bollox... it doesn't TAKE much time :D I was gonna say that, but fact is, I simply can't be bothered sometimes :o even though it really doesn't take time and you get soooooooooo much more satisfaction from it.

  • my favorite thing to do for dinner is to eat out at a restaurant, and we do so entirely too often. we also get takeout often, and my husband cooks. he usually cooks from scratch, but has a few meals he 'cheats' a bit with, but still awesome...he's a great cook! i don't cook. on occasion i may make pasta and heat up some of hubby's homemade sauce :p...but that's the extent of it. i do like to sit down at the table, candles and music over dinner....but we also will eat at our large coffee table with takeout and watch a DVD.

I make dinner most nights and we eat at the table. We generally go out to eat once a week.

I use the microwave to defrost things I've frozen-- like red-sauce. :)

what time shall i be over?

i LOVE food. i love eating it of course, trying new flavors, new restaurants.....reading about food, gathering recipes, reading about ingrdients. i just for whatever reason don't enjoy the act of cooking. :p i'd be great at helping and offer, but hubby likes to cook on his own. we also have a smallish kitchen, so that might come into play as well.

we do own a microwave, but don't use it to cook. use it to defrost sometimes, hubby uses it for reheating his leftovers - i'm not much for leftovers - and i use it most to make popcorn. :) haha.

  • Home today.

Tonight, pasta fagioli topped with grated Romano cheese. Also we will have a home made Italian roll and a glass of Zinfandel . This should make today's rainy, cold day a bit better. House smells like baking bread right now.

We usually cook together. We put on music (speakers in the kitchen), pop a bottle of wine and relax while getting things ready.
    Hold On

  • We usually eat at the table. My wife and I always ate in front of the TV, but now with a little one we've changed our ways.

During the week it's usually a mix of everything... The main part is usually some form of chicken, beef or pork, with veggies and a side (most of the time something quick from a box).

Weekends, we do a bit more cooking from scratch.

We both like to cook, so mostly we cook from scratch. When we're camping, which is often, we do all of our cooking with the camp fire. No gas stoves allowed.

Last night I cooked turkey meatballs from scratch....tomato sauce, corn meal, curry powder, garlic and olive oil.

I was home sick yesterday, and so I attempted to make chocolate croissants with phyllo dough....I made the oven too hot, so they came out burnt, and the smoke alarm sounded. Luckily, the alarm system wasn't set so no call from the alarm patrol!

    That sounds so good!

Last night we sat at the table, it was one of my nights off, so I had the honor of cooking dinner. Chicken tenderloins in lemon-caper sauce with brown mushroom rice & pan-roasted green beans. So fricken good! I put the leftovers in an omelette this morning :)and then I washed last night's dishes...
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

My husband - I guess he had some kind of early mid-life crisis and decided he would learn to cook. So that's been great. He makes all kinds of risotto and this steak kind of lightly seasoned with olive oil and sea salt and the best caesar salad ever and on Saturday night he made homemade chocolate mousse. We kind of go nuts at Thanksgiving, too. It's a miracle I don't weigh 300 pounds.
