Some visitor presentation freaky weird guy with a moustache visited my high school like 7 years ago (eek 7 years since high school?! I feel old!) and he let us smell his O3 gas. I can't remember what it smelled of, but it smelled of something.
 that's one of the weirdest statements I've ever read :D

but so what, he TOLD you it's O3 gas? It coulda been anything! Maybe he was gassing you into believing him.

so what did the ozone layer look like on newsround? :)

He said it was O3.... it was blue... I had no reason not to believe him, his moustache was very trustworthy.

Well it didn't show the Ozone on Newsround... but I did see a pack mule and alot of sweltering children than a photo of the world with a lot of red and blue scribbled over it. So it must be true!

:D good point! I believe you!

But it's weird... these scientists, who refute God may I say cos he cannot be proved, expect us to believe in something we cannot see, touch, hear, smell or taste?

Yeah, but most science involves proof that would be boring to explain on a news show, especially since most people wouldn't understand it. I'm a microbiology student and I get REALLY pissed off (gggggrrrrrrrr) when a story about MRSA and C. difficile comes up because everyone is so fucking ignorant! And the news stories out there aren't helping.

I'm sure there's a good 10-20 years worth of journal articles about holes in the O Zone layer. Science doesn't usually pop out of thin air, there's always one thing leading onto another leading onto another.

  • :D what? You can buy carbon credits?

yep, G8 is trying to reduce emissions of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), but all these nations won't be able to do as established on the Kyoto Protocol in which is accepted that no matter where, emissions have to be lowered, and that's how nations can sell "CO2 Credits".

It's a new variable in world economy, quite interesting...at least i discovered all that shit studying my master right now :o

No, I don't expect you to believe it. I just believe it myself because I can't be bothered to spend the time to do the proper scrutiny of the research. It's a well researched field and any bad research is knocked down quite fast. Comes a point where I have to trust, no one's an expert in everything.

I think buying of carbon credits for individuals is more of a ethical thing to make hippies feel better about themselves.

    here's what i know.
like all things climate is cyclic.
i feel the sun hotter. is this global warming or is this a natural 'aberration'.
i do not believe mankind has been around long enough to know whether what we are experiencing is the natural run of things or something more. however...
i can not discount that man's activities do not have some sort of effect on global climate patterns. fortunately being an australian i was born with the innate ability to swim so if the sea levels rise i'll be okay. :p:D

I agree completely. I think all this stuff scientists come up with is just a load of equations that they can prove mathematically... doesn't always mean it applies though! Sorry fowls :o
