i think colin farell is a horrible actor but this movie is hilarious ... ralph fiennes is pure genius ...

WALL-E is the best movie I've seen this year but this one is definitely worth a watch ...

Hubby and I saw this in the theater and we really liked it. Generally I don't care for Colin Farrell, like...at all. But I did like him in this movie.

I heard Bruges is repeatedly called a shithole. That's not cool, man. Bruges is beautiful! It's one of my favourite cities but I'm biased. Does it show much of Bruges? I would be cool to see the city in a movie.

definitely my favorite film of the year so far!! i meant to start a thread about it last week too! its such a shame that no one knows about this movie... i was talking about it at work and no one has even heard of it... ill make sure more people see it though!

the whole "dark comedy" genre very rarely get the attention it deserves... this and "harold and maude" are definitely amongst my favorites... anyone got others to recommend i may have missed?

they show TONS of Bruges... and calling it a shithole is kindof done in a more comedic way by collin farrells character... so dont take it personally... the other characters say its like a fairy tale... seeing the movie was enough to make me wanna check it out when im over in europe next year... not to mention i wouldve been there anyway to check out the flemish art

  • I absolutely LOVE this movie.

I don't have a prob. with Colin Ferrell either...

I mean he looks like you could get herp from just sitting on the same chair he sat on a few weeks ago (even with a complete antibacterial wipe down) but...I like him...he is "saucy" :D

I think I started a thread about this movie a loooooooooooong time ago!

agreed... with the exception of "daredevil" i have yet to see him do a bad job with a movie... definitely a talented actor... and even if his personal life is crazy and gross atleast he has a good grasp of it unlike all those coked out actresses like lindsey lohan... and i think his character in this movie isnt too far from himself so it makes the acting seem that much truer

    go see this movie people!

It does look beautiful, but I can also see how it may get boring/restless fast..Both perspectives were needed in this film..

One of my all time favourite short exchanges in a film, delivered perfectly

    You from the States?
Yeah. But don't hold it against me.
I'll try not to... Just try not to say anything too loud or crass.

The mannerisms in the way they did it was brilliant. Brendan Gleeson's world weariness, and Jordan Prentice's perfect capture of the 'ugh, loud crass American tourists' awareness in that one line... the humour in the whole film, encapsulated in this one short scene.

I agree... Collin watch it! Brendan Gleesons character loves Bruges and it's almost like a tourist movie for Bruges... Colin Farrell is just out for a mad time which he can't find in Bruges so he calls it a shithole. I've heard they're doing 'In Bruges tours' now.

I would say Americans get the worst rap in the film :p

Love the whole accusing the Canadian for being American thing. Really, it's true, we can't really tell.

:D I've often accused Americans of being canadian. Sometimes the accent is soooo pronounced and they say oat instead of out and all... so I'm positive enough to ask 'eh, what part of Canada are you from?' :) 'emmm... Wisconsin'

The runnign jokes on Americans was one of the funniest things in the movie. Especially the three Americans that are warned not to climb the tower. And the scene with the Canadian couple at the restaurant was great.

it's on our netflix queue....can't wait to see it! :)
the previews always looked awesome, good reviews, but never managed to get to see it in the theatre. psyched though since we have our new 52" TV and upgraded surround system, so every film we watch, even one we've seen numerous times.....excellent!

btw - i only spent a couple of hours in bruges - in transit to amsterdam - and i thought it a beautiful city! i'd love to REALLY get to visit and see it all. :)
