The penalty turned out to be more severe. William F. Buckley Jr.'s son said yesterday that he had lost his back-page column in National Review, the conservative bible founded by his father.

"Within hours, poor NR was being swamped with furious mail, 'Cancel my subscription, this is betrayal, Judas, Benedict Arnold,' " Buckley, 56, said in an interview. "I thought the decent thing to do would be to offer to resign the column. Well, they accepted it."

Buckley can't be completely disappeared; the Washington author owns one-seventh of National Review and serves on the magazine's board. But he is the latest right-leaning pundit to be slammed by his side for criticizing or breaking with John McCain.

National Review Boots Buckley Son For Obama Boost

This is what happens when you go against us, you lose your column that conservatives for ya.

I still can't believe Buckley endorsed Obama. Like Dick Cheney going on a campaign to end no bid contracts.

His piece was an exercise in mass self-contradiction,
    good for the NR

I thought it was well written. Care to explain?

Interesting that his father founded the National Review, and I believe he still owns a large stake in the company, so I'm not so sure he "got the boot." I think he decided to leave to avoid causing trouble (ie. lost subscriptions)
    for them.

I prefer it when private entities show people the door just because they don't like the look on their face....as opposed to if they actually have some sort of reason that makes sense.

    Either way, it's their prerogative.

I posted this article over the weekend, along with a TRUE conservative's response:

While eloquent, his article said nothing specific in his charges against a John McCain presidency:
what flip-flopiing positions? and what about charges of the same in the other direction?

In one breath he praises McCain for calling the media jerks, and in the next he calls McCain too snarky. Which one is it?

And then he goes on to celebrate his endorsement of Obama-because of his "first class temperment", because he "writes his own books", because "he is a Harvard man " - before he delivers his only line of substance in the whole article:

"America ought, really, to be governed by men like John McCain—who have spent their entire lives in its service, even willing to give the last full measure of their devotion to it"

despite that, Buckley "prays" that Obama will "surely understand that traditional left-politics aren’t going to get us out of this pit we’ve dug for ourselves. If he raises taxes and throws up tariff walls and opens the coffers of the DNC to bribe-money from the special interest groups against whom he has (SOMEWHAT DISINGENUOUSLY) railed during the campaign trail, then he will almost certainly reap a whirlwind that will make Katrina look like a balmy summer zephyr.

Your allowance has been revoked from above, young Buckley

    Further:

And by somewhat disengenuously, he really means "He (Obama) has raised more money from commercial corporate interests and corporate lawyers by far more than John McCain. Why are these corporate interests investing in him so heavily?" - Nader last Sunday on Cspan

Obama is dominating the mainsteam media we claim to despise, he is almost universally supported by the left-wing elite. You simply have to connect the dots to figure this thing out.

Obama ain't lookin' out for you, no matter how smooth he sounds

An Obama presidency is unacceptable, vote with your head, look at the record.
