  • Jesus makes it magic so you can....
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Was it the same guy that has the "McCain votes against Vets"? They had him thrown out.

Not watching either convention.....but it is possible to win an occupation...ask Japan and Germany.

Japan and Germany were not under military occupation... well, East Germany was... I guess that's what you're talking about, right?

No...silly goose.....the occupation following the war...McArthur and what not in the Pacific...true, it was not all military, but still an occupation.

I didn't make any reference to the current occupation....apparently not any McArthur (or any 21st Century George Marshalls either) types in this current lot.....well, they do share some of the old soldier's bad personality traits...but that's about it.

  • Yawn. We just gave Anbar back to Iraq and we'll be giving Baghdad back soon. Violence has been way down all summer. We'll have some troops here and there for a while (like we do in all over the place--not saying that's a good thing just a reality) but the war is nearly over.
Would've been over sooner if not for Bush's cowardice and our loser do-nothing Congress.

surprisingly, there's a difference between a war and an occupation...

But, the wild card that is Muqtada Al Sadr is still out there. His Madhi Army is still armed and he is still supported by a large part of the seated Iraqi Parliment. There is still a great probability that he will call off his truce, once the U.S. Military leaves.
You also have to remember... the U.S. supplies all of the close combat and tactical air support... the combat surgical hospitals... logistical support (supply lines)... and central command and control. When do we hand off those vital support roles? And to whom?

Not to mention the fortress (embassy) we built there, we will never leave.
